I think you should have searched for bullfights. A matador is a bullfighter. Bullfights are no longer allowed in Barcelona. You might go to see one in Madrid, if you wish. Can't see an English version, no. But if you use Google chrome as your browser you have the option to automatically translate any page, which I find exceptionally useful. Even without seeing a bullfight you'll enjoy Madrid. It's a very pleasant city, imo. And you can get into the Prado for free after 6pm on weekdays, which is nice. :-)

The two Spanish capitals of bullfighting - corrida de toros - are Madrid with the arena of Las Ventas and Sevilla with the plaza de toros de la Maestranza. Here on Madrid "Things to Do" nr 7 "Bullfighting" there are 67 reviews with often good info. The website of Las Ventas is indeed only in Spanish. There is a website of a ticket seller taquillatoros.com where you can get info in English (translation by Google) about the various "plazas de toros" in Spain and the programs and prices of seats. The season in Spain (= temporada) goes to the end of October.

Unfortunately this is available on Sundays and I am departing on Friday night. =( The consolation I can only tell myself is that maybe the less expensive seats are too far back that i can't see much anyway (is that the case???) haha. definitely cant afford front rows... I also read on tour of the bullring instead. Anyone have been and are they interesting? Out of the 2 bullring in Madrid, which one is recommended? Thanks!

We went to watch the bullfight at Las Ventas in Madrid on Sunday, June 24. Although it is not for everyone, it was an experience of a lifetime for us and an ultimate Madrid experience. We bought our tickets 15 minutes before the bullfight began and was able to get a 55E ticket for 15E. We had a friend who spoke spanish made the deal and we found out that if you speak Spanish you can haggle for the best seat in the arena for a lot less. Good luck.
