Hi! Intend to travel to Barcelona with family in near future and subsequently visit Granada. Please advise what is the best transport option to Granada from Barcelona. I would rather prefer a train or bus journey, provided it is convenient, as I understand the distance is not short. Thanks in advance!
The alternative to a not less than seven and a half hour train journey and a not less than fourteen hours on a bus is a flight with at least Vueling.

The two trips dont really match my friend. Why travel such a large distance? Do you have to fly to Barcelona? In which case there is plenty to see around there. Or do you have to visit Granada for some reason? I'm sure you have very good reasons but it just seems an odd plan without the background info!

I faced the same issue you are dealing with earlier this year. After much research I found out that taking a plane from Barcelona to Granada was not only the quickest but the cheapest option. The flight was just about an hour as opposed to nearly 8 by train. The train was significantly more expensive and I don't think the scenery between the two locations is especially great. A one way fare on Vueling Airlines cost just 37 euros plus tax at the time. The only problems were getting out to the airport by bus and the factthat there were only two flights a day at the least cost on Vueling. The Granada airport is just outside of town and for 3 euros you can get a bus into town that stops at most of the hotels. Here is the vueling link. I see their are flights in late June for as low as 39 euros one way. vueling.com/booking/booking/...

Thanks to all for the valuable feedback! The reason for visiting these two places is that both cities are fascinating with distinct history and nature. The flight option looks most feasible especially since the journey by land is not so especially scenic.

I faced this same problem a few years ago. I wanted to spend a week in Andalusia after spending 3 months abroad in Barcelona. I found it easiest to fly to Seville, spent 2 days there, trained to Cordoba (wanted to see the Mezquita), and then trained to Granada. The Alhambra is easily one of the most amazing things I've ever seen (I'm an architecture geek tho), but definitely TOTALLY worth it. Then, I flew back to Barcelona from Granada. I took Vueling and it was a very pleasant experience and MUCH more affordable than trying to train back. I also took Easy Jet from Paris to Barcelona that same fall and thought it was quite decent considering the price as well! (Granted, this was 4.5 years ago, so that might have changed some). Oh, and don't forget to get your tickets for the Alhambra in advance, especially if you're going during a busy tourist time like August. Can't wait to see your tips and pictures from your trip! Blake
