Check out the Barcelona travel pages in here and look at the tips, things to-do etc - lots of information in there. Depending when you are travelling, check out the Magic Fountains dates and times. As well as the lovely Gothic Quarter, there are the Gaudi Houses, Park Guell, and the Joan Miro statues. The Ramblas is worth a stroll (watch out for pick-pockets) but there is loads to-do and see. The Olympic Village, Poble Espanyol, Beach.......

You could do about a half day trip to Montserrat. The trip itself is wonderful as you take a train then cable car high above Catalonia. The church there has a wonderful boys choir and the Black Madonna. There are numerous good tips on it on VT.

My wife and I just got back from our European trip which included 4 days in Barcelona. Although I haven't written any tips yet I will give you a quick summary of what we did. Day 1 -arrived around 3:00 p.m. went to our bed and breakfast part way up Mt Tibadabo. Went into the city using metro, walked around and had dinner Day 2 - spent a couple of hours at Parc Guell, then walked around some more, had a nice lunch and my wife went to the famous church still being built, went to Magic Fountain show at 9:00 p.m. Day 3 - went on a 2 1/2 hour walking tour of old section of Barcelona ( runnerbeantours .com ), had tapas lunch, walkd along Las Ramblas, checked out market just off Las Ramblas and went to spice and herbal fair also just off Las Ramblas. Day 4 - took the blue tram and then funicular up to top of Mt Tibadabo, walked along top of park, took bus to beach, had nice lunch, spent some time at the beach, walked to main square and saw large protest.

Gaudi has a huge influence in Barcelona. Visit his house, the architecture is beautiful! Walking around Guell park is a great way to spend a few hours. Hop on a tour bus and see Barcelona in all it's glory. You could see the Port, where you can watch the huge ships coming in and out. There is a shopping centre, cinema and restaurants & bars where you can enjoy good food, drink and sunshine!! Las Ramblas (the main street) is full of shops, bars and restaurants. There are street artists and it's always a crowded place-so watch your personal belongings. I did a day trip to Monsarrat and it was AMAZING. Get a train there then the cable car to the village which is in the mountains (check out my Barcelona pages). The views cannot be missed! Have fun in Barcelona! Oh, and there's also a beach if that's what you want! Hayley :)

I guess it depends on whether you prefer to walk around on your own or take a tour instead. Personally, when I have a short stay in a city I try to go at least on one walking/bus tour, just to get a feel for the city, or discover some of the main attractions. In Barcelona however, you have many more options... Depending on your budget you could try some of the following: http://www.ridebrightside.com/ (Sidecar Tours...very original!) http://www.segwaytours.cat/ fattirebiketours.com/barcelo... http://www.barcelona--walks.com/

When I studied abroad in Barcelona, I loved hanging out in the old Gothic area of town... check out the Catedral, the Placa Reial, the MUHBA - Museu d'Història de Barcelona - Plaça del Rei (which is right by the Catedral and has Roman ruins underground that you can walk thru), and strolling Las Ramblas. I lived in El Born, which is such a cute area - check out Santa Maria del Mar church and it's also where the Museu Picasso is located, which is awesome! There are tons of cute bars and yummy spots to eat and window shop there as well. One of my favorite activities I did was go to the rooftop of La Pedrera, also known as Casa Mila, to check out the sunset/see the view. Super awesome!
