Hi, i am looking to go to Barcelona towards the end of the year/start of next year to watch some Football, see the sights etc. I was just wondering if anyone could answer a few questions (although they may be a bit vague, sorry!): 1. How much of a barrier is the language for someone who only speaks English? 2. What is the general cost of living like? 3. What sort of quality are most of the hostels? I understand the quality probably varies with price etc 4. Are there house sharing opportunities with other people doing the same sort of thing? I hope someone can answer these few questions the best they can, any responses will be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
Hi M3ssil...welcome to VT. 1.) english is not a barrier, most locals in dealing with tourists speak English, 2.) you can get a great meal for 10-12 euro ($13 to15), a nice hotel for 120 euro. A trip on the metro will cost you1.50. You can stay at a quality hostel for about50-$60 per night. 3./ 4. I can't help you with. Karl

No problem, i spoke English only and got along fine. hostel world has many good hostels and cheap. I stay on Ferrin street and they have several that was nice and cheap. People sharing rental apartments, try (airbnb), I always have good luck with them, but then there are many internet bargins (75 usd) 4 stars that may be avaliable. Keep on checking, depends on when you are there. Most important though is location, location, location. Check my blog on barcelona might help/ cheers tommy x

hi, I use to rent accommodation in Barcelona from http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites (Owners directly) on my trip a few times per month, cheaper than a hotel and Airbnb
