    • Bus from Budapest to Szeged?

      Szeged May 15, 2013 at 7:04 AM

We're arriving at the Budapest airport around 10 pm. As I see, there are no more trains at that time. Are there perhaps any buses at the time to take us to Szeged from the airport later in the evening?

    • Free travel for over 65

      Budapest Apr 22, 2013 at 2:27 AM

I understand that travel is free for EU nationals aged over 65. To take advantage of this, do you still have to obtain some sort of ticket, or does it suffice to carry ID for inspection? Thank you in advance for any information.

    • Champions league final on tv

      Budapest May 17, 2013 at 3:05 PM

Hi, I will be in Budapest on Saturday 25th, day of the Champions League final! Can anyone kindly recommend a good lounge bar where I can have dinner and watch the game? I am not looking for a sports bar but rather a lounge/cocktail bar in city centre.

Also, I know this is highly subjective, but I'd love to hear from locals of great restaurants in central Budapest!

      Thank you in anticipation,
      K

      Budapest Apr 25, 2013 at 6:12 PM

We want to mail empty suitcases (for our bikes) from Innsbruck for pickup in Budapest. But we need to have them wait for us. Is there any kind of poste restante service that would hold them? They are big but light.

    • Translation of name Orzse

      Hungary May 13, 2013 at 3:12 AM

      Hi,

This is not exactly a "travel" question, although I do intend to follow it up with travel to Hungary. My grandmother was baptised "Orzse." Does anyone know what the English language equivalent is? She called herself Elizabeth, but isn't that "Erzsebet"? Thanks very much for your help.

Are there any supermarkets nearby and will they still be open then? Also can we buy alcohol at a supermarket?

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced restaurant in the area? Hungarian preferably.

Thank you so much for any information.

Why do they use this forest road to get to the Croatian border?

      Mohacs Sep 3, 2004 at 12:00 AM

My friend and I were in southern Hungary last Friday and in the evening (it was already getting dark) we headed to the Duna-Drava national park, south of Mohacs. We wanted to find a quiet place at Duna. In fact, it was very quiet in the park everywhere, anyway. Except for one small road. Taking into account there weren't many cars even on bigger roads (motoways), it made us wonder were all those cars were driving to. We looked at the map and found out the small road was leading to the Croatian border. We wanted to drive and see what was happening there, but we weren't allowed to drive the rented car outside Hungary, and besides it was getting late. So my quiestion is, was it the illegal way to get to Croatia there? Otherwise, why such a secret path (there are bigger and better roads to Croatia)? The road runs near Kolkod and Erdofu villages to Duna.
