by MontagS Online Now Mar 17, 2013 at 1:36 AM

Hi there! We're staying at Bansko for the weekend and i was wondering if you have any tips of where to eat somewhere not too touristy cause yesterday we had a mediocre dinner and today id prefer to eat something a bit more interesting(not necessary traditional...)

What I really recommend is this one: The hoe: "The best in Bansko" - Bansko Restaurant Tip by mirchica
It's called "motikata" in Bulgarian but unfortunately it's far from the city center. It's on the left side at the end of the the town, road on the way to the ski paths.

Chardaka: "Tavern with balcony" - Bansko Restaurant Tip by mirchica - this one is in the center and it was nice but I'm sure you can find many like that similar to it.

    Have a nice lunch!

Bansko is, by its very nature, a bit of a tourist trap but I found three excellent restaurants which, whilst a bit more expensive than the Bulgarian average, I reckoned as good value for money.

You really are too kind Mira - I blush. Another Bansko one that I didn't eat at is called (I think) Bansko Mehana - my friendly hotel guy reccommended it but maybe his brother owns it - that's Bulgaria LOL

Whilst I'm here Mira - talking about Bulgarians. Is Nikola Vaptsarov as respected as Bansko makes out? I love his poem "My Country". I only have the English translation and it reads very well, very powerful.

Definitely respected, there are streets, schools named after him all over the country. Here is a link to his poems: http://www.slovo.bg/old/f/en/vaptsarov/ (if you haven't found it already)

Amvrosia is a very good choice for a little bit of high budget.
