!!! Missing: Jonathan Simon !!! His name is Jonathan Simon, DoB: 9/11/1989, Munich. He went missing on Sat 8/6/2011 in Ecuador close to a little village called Pailon del Diablo, nearest town there is called Banos, on a biking path called Routa des Cascades. He was last seen at around 7pm local time by the friend he was travelling with. The boys decided to take different routes and meet up again at the other side of a waterfall which should have taken them each about 10-15 minutes. Jonathan never showed up and went missing ever since. Local police had been informed and did start a search for him, but apparently stopped their efforts after about 10 hours with no results or clues. Time is of the essence as a search and rescue team should be formed privately or by the authorities, but the longer we wait or waste time to organize this, the more likely it becomes that Jonatahan will no longer be around that area as it is apparently close to the Pan American highway or help might not come just in time for him. So any strings anyone can pull over there: go for it! You can find a picture of Jonathan on the profile of this group (or alternatively I posted his photo as my profile picture as well – as everyone who cares to have Jonathan found should do btw) Thank you for your help!
Does anybody have a line on decent places to stay in Banos up to around 35 bucks a night? Thanks.
Hi all Ive read about Tungaruhua tours at night, or late evening. I can't find any websites on this so is it easier to arrange a trip when Im there? Thanks
I'm going to Quito in August and would like to visit Banos as well. I read that it takes almost 4 hours to get there by bus. Do they make bathroom stops? I will be traveling with my 8 year old daughter. Thanks! -Tanya.
I am traveling to area around Banos in April 2008 and was wondering if the volcano would affect the area Sangay and Llanganati National Park if there was an eruption?
i am thinking of spending some time in banos, or possibly patate - so i would like to know if there is smoke there - from the volcano. and if so, how much and how often? have people complained of it hurting their eyes, or causing a chronic cough? when i lived on the big island of hawaii, i got very sick from the volcano smoke on the kona side. it looked like the smog in los angeles, and everyone called it vog. thank you - i appreciate your help. All been ok so far but my family back at home are getting a bit worried as apparently an english woman tourist disappeared in banos a few months ago and had her bank account cleared. Does anyone know any more about this ie what happened, where she was staying when it occured? I´m not too worried but just curious...
I read a posting on here about a bad experience at Luna Runtun - have other people had good experiences? I am planning on staying there later in the year. Also does anyone know the best place to get a taxi from Quito to Banos - obviously I want to pay the lowest price possible! Thank you
