I would be interested in hearing from any member who has been to Banjamarsin. Did you use the town as a base for exploring further afield, did you go on day trips? Did you make your own arrangements or did you travel as part of an organised tour? Having read conflicting comments, I am trying to ge a feel for the place, as I would really like to spend some time in Kalimantan.
Banjarmasin (south Kalimantan) is nice place and warm people. Try water transportation along the river and go to floating market there (More natural than in Thiland) if you'd like to go adventure, go to Loksado (4 hours from Banjarmasin) where you can see Dayak Tribe living in longhouse and try bamboo rafting on amandit river. If you want to continue your trip to Palangkaraya (central Kalimantan) there are scheduled bus from terminal. You can make your own arrangement during your trip, but take local guide in Loksado.

I suggest if you want to go to Kalimantan don't miss dive @ Derawan in east kalimantan :)
