how to go to Mymensingh?

We're willing to go to Mymensingh within two weeks, but we're wondering about the way to go there by public transport. Is it possible to take the train from Patgram in the North, along the river Jamuna and cross the river at Bharatkali to continue travelling by train at the other side of the river around Barul?
