1. Where are the protest area that we should avoid?
2. Even it's safe to travel to bkk, I'm wondering about the road block, traffic on the road getting around bkk to places such as asiatique, chatuchak market, chocolate ville, etc. Isit convenient?
3. Is it safe to hire car to travel out of bkk such as ayutthaya or huahin? What will u recommend? 1 day tour of ayutthaya n 2 days in huahin?
Thanks in advance..

Is it safe to travel to Bangkok on 12-18Dec
hi there, im going to bangkok at this Friday(13 Dec) , is it safe to travel there ? I'm worry ... :(
Can anyone please update news at here ? Thx a lot =)
what will be the situation in Bangkok now? Safe to travel now ?
I will to travel from Bagkok to Myanmar and I would need to have some USD in cash before my departure to Myanmar.
But I wouldn't like carrying cash with me from Europe as I will need to stay in Thailand going around for few days.
Therefore I was wondering if it is possible to withdraw from cash machines in Bangkok money in USD banknotes? any restrictions for such withdrawals.
Please share your experience.
In an effort to reign in all the "Is it safe" posts, I thought I would attempt to start an "Update" thread. Maybe people can refer to this thread to help decide whether they feel Bangkok is safe or not.
Let's try to find answers, or post insights, in one place.
I will open by stating that today, December 5th, locally, Bangkok is going to celebrate the King's birthday. I can't fathom anyone making any trouble during today's celebrations. However, Suthep, the self proclaimed 'leader' of the protests, has said that the fight will continue, resuming tomorrow, the 6th.
No one can predict what can or will happen All one can do is stay abreast of what is happening and make decisions based on that.
I would like to point out that there really very few hotels near any of the protest 'targets'.
Although one might get near protests, in passing, one is unlikely to be caught up in them, at least up to this point.
Drivers are most likely going to give them a wide berth.

I booked my trip to Bangkok some months ago and I did not expect demonstration to happen. Anyways, is there anyone out the in Bangkok at the moment? I heard from some Thai people that this week Thais celebrate his majesty's birthday so this should be ended before that. However, the situation is getting more intensive day after day. I would like to hear from tourists who are in the city at the moment. My trip is on Friday, December 6. Thanks a lot!!!!!

I need to be in KL on Dec.5
I will be coming from Bangkok.
Do I have to leave on Dec.3 to get to KL on Dec.5
Sorry but Seat61 is quite confusing for me.
What is faster, by bus or by train?
And what route do I take?
Is it true that if I take the train to Butterworth, it arrives early and it doesn't leave for KL until night time?
What are the costs and how long will each journey take?
How much will it cost to go to Penang if I have a lot of free time in between?
Thank you very much.
