Hello, I will be arriving at Bangkok and staying a few days but my final destination is Manila Philippines. I bought a laptop and an iPhone here in the states, new in box, for my sister in the Philippines. Do I have to take them out of their original box? Will I be taxed or penalized for bringing these new goods to Thailand or the Philippines? Please let me know how to best pack these items. Thanks!

Manila: Suggest for you to flatten the box and store separately in your luggage. Carry both as used personal items and declare as such if Customs ask. It will be taxed once Customs sees it in original box.
