I am visitng Bangkok with my wife from 22nd May to 24th May. Can anyone guide how to reach Ambassador hotel Sukhumvit road from Airport. Is there any metro. We have limited time like evening of 22nd, full day of 23rd and first half day of 23rd. Where to go in this short visit
If time is limited....why not just take a taxi? Not very expensive and easy to get one on the lower lever of the airport....

The Airport Express bus will take you to Soi 10, Sukhumvit road where the Ambassador Hotel is located. The cost is 150 baht per person and you purchase a ticket from the Airport Express Counter on level 1 near entrance 8. There are 3 routes, and you will want AE3 which is the bus that will take you to your hotel. But as the previous post suggests why not take a taxi, i would imagine that 599 baht would cover the fare. Also the hotel will have an airport xfer service. Great food in the hotel foodcourt if it is still in operation. During your visit don't miss the Grand Palace, take a boat on the river at night to see Wat Arun, visit Bai Yok tower and take the elevator up to the 78th floor (maybe 78th) for a wonderful view over Bangkok, there are a few old fotos and interesting things on display too. It's not too far from your hotel. There are a couple of shopping centres nearby too, and right outside your door is the street market that comes alive at night.

Yes, there is an airport train, but the service is somewhat infrequent. Taxi is your best bet.

There is no Airport Express bus anymore. When the Airport Rail Link became popular there was not enough customers for that bus. The Airport Rail Link connects to the Skytrain at Phaya Thai. The Skytrain can take you to the Nana Skytrain stop. You can access the Ambassador Hotel by going down Sukhumvit Soi 11. It will be on the right near the Villa Market. No rail service after midnight. Rail Link to Phaya Thai using the City Line is 45 baht. From Phaya Thai to Nana maybe 35-45 baht. urbanrail.net/as/bang/bangko... There is a Public Taxi area at the airport on the first floor in 2 locations near the curb. The price for a meter taxi is the same for one person or 4 passengers. Make sure you have small bills for paying taxi drivers. Even a 500 baht note may be too much for a driver to change. bangkokairportonline.com/nod... At the public taxi sign up desks the clerk will ask you for your hotel name. They will write up a form that identifies the driver; keep that form. You pay the meter fare to to your hotel plus a 50 baht surcharge. You also are responsible for any toll charges. Usually 2 tolls for a total of 70 baht paid during ride. Roughly the total cost - fare plus surcharge including toll charges comes to around 350 - 400 baht. Getting caught in traffic tie-ups can add more to the price. Remember to have small bills. The Skytrain can take you to Siam, Patpong, MBK and other areas. Local travel agencies can set you up with tours. Some things you can see or visit in Bangkok below. asiatraveltips.com/Thingstod... Good luck.

From the Nana Skytrain stop to the Ambassador Hotel (near Villa Market) is maybe a 5 to 8 minute walk. Soi 1-3-5-7-9-and 11, etc. on same side of street. Other side of Sukhumvit has the even numbers. You might be able to see the Swiss Park Hotel from the Skytrain, that is Soi 11. Look for street signs, they are in English too.

In that case, Taxi is the best way to hire for a limited time.

I would also say take a cab. Instead of getting one from outside arrival, go up to departure instead. It's slightly cheaper..I stayed at Fraser Suites Sukhumvit when I was in bangkok. bangkok-sukhumvit.frasershos... If I remember correctly, the fare from the airport to Sukhumvit was less than 500 baht. Just make sure that the driver turns on the meter, that way he doesn't just quote you any price. Happy travels!

thanks for reply. I have visited Bangkok. From Airport to Hotel at Sukhumvit road, I paid 450 baht as meter was not working. But on my return, taxi's meter was working and I paid only 220 Baht. Ambassador Hotel in Bangkok was not as good as I stayed in Rennasaince Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Even my stay in Chinatown Hotel - 2 star hotel in Singapore was good.

THERE it is again with the meter thing and being ripped off. Sorry that the Thai taxi cabbies are like that, and the lesson for this is never get in a cab if they refuse to turn on that meter. Sir Hal has always said it and I believe in that too. If they refuse to turn on that meter or if it doesn't work, the driver is cheating the system, government and the customer. Leave the cab immediately and pay for nothing. I have Thai friends that when we got in a cab and they refuse to turn on the meter and just kept going started screaming in Thai to be let out and refuse to pay a baht even though the driver drove within a mile of the location. You're lucky that the driver didn't ask for 700 bahts and take advantage that you are a tourist. cheers tommy x

Agree..I was in BKK this past April(my 4thtime) and the cab driver said that the meter didn't work when taking me back to the airport to return home. Before I could get out...he turned it on......I am hip to that hustle!!
