canoeing Banff and Lake Louise

by audierolnick Online Now Jul 10, 2010 at 5:32 AM

We are staying in Banff,Lake Louise and Jasper for 3 days each. Looking for activities other than hiking in these areas. For example canoeing, horseback riding or bike rentals. Any suggestions? Where is best place to rent canoes?

In Lake Louise you can rent a canoe to take out on the lake. There is the Brewster stables there as well. They do a tour to the Plain Of Six Glaciers way past the back of the lake. It is spectacular back there. I haven't done the horseride, but have hiked to it. They do a few horseback options in the area.

The Fairmont hotel offers canoes on the lake in front of the hotel in Jasper as well.

I know there are a lot of horseback riding tours that go through the Kananaskis Country area. It is just past Canmore and before Calgary, probably around 1/2 hour from Banff. I have seen people on horseback tours around Banff to, like near Lake Minnewanka. If you google you should be able to find out what companies offer tours. Brewster might do those ones as well.
