Hi Everyone, I have been reading through the posts on here, very useful info! I am in the UK and I've signed up with an agency called Smaller Earth so I can work and travel in Canada. Basically, they gaurentee me a job in a ski resort for the first 6/7 months of my stay then I can travel the rest of the country. If I get my first choice, I'll be doing bar work at sunshine village and living in Banff...or one of the cheaper towns near by. Is anyone on here heading out a similar time? I plan to stay at Samesun Hostel for the first couple of weeks til I can find people to live with. Bit scary as I'm going alone and am a little concerned as to whether I will be able to handle the extreme cold but I'm really looking forward to the adventure! Anyone who's in the same boat then message back :) Also any tips from the pros would be most useful.
You have signed up with an agency to work in Canada? You do know that you will need to also get the approval from the Canadian Government for you to work in Canada. you might look at the Government of Canada web site which covers who and who may not work in Canada and how to go about doing the paper work if you intend to apply to work in Canada. If you intend not to apply to the Government of Canada for the proper visa, and then when you get to the Immigration and Customs at your arrival airport in Canada and tell them you plan to visit for 6/7 months, they will ask you what your means of support will be. You better be prepared with a good story.

Hi, Yes my visa application is being processed so I am going through all the correct channels. Basically, this agency are in partnership with Go International in Vancouver and they hold recruitment contracts with the ski resorts Sunshine Village, Panorama and a few others. I'll be on the offical Canada Working Holiday programme but by paying an agency fee in the UK, it gaurentees me work for when I get there as it'll all be pre-arranged and I wont have the trouble of trying to find work in a very competitive market. I've done extensive research on this company as they offer opportunities worldwide, both working and volunteering and I've also spoken to people who have been to canada on the programme and they said it was great x

Great to hear that you are going through the correct channels, so many don't. Enjoy your working holiday in Banff, it is a beautiful area of our country.

Hi I'm looking at doing the exact same thing, preferably working in Banff, but if not then probably Vancouver. I'm in Australia and the agency I've been talking to charge1500 for their services. It seems steep can I ask what your agency charged you? I'm planning on getting there in November and staying for atleast the ski season if not longer :)
