ICEFIELD TOUR

by JAN53 Online Now Jun 6, 2009 at 1:53 PM

We are intending to stop and tour the icefield on the way from Banff to Jasper the second week of September and wondered if we should pre-book a tour or whether you can just turn up and get on one. Also anyone who has done the VIA Rail Skeena train journey from Jasper to Prince Rupert who could give us any tips or information we would be most grateful.

You should be okay on the Icefield tour without reservations in September.

As for the Skeena, where are you going to be coming from before Prince Rupert? If you will be travelling to Prince Rupert via ferry, you should be aware that the ferry into Prince Rupert only arrives every other day - on odd-numbered days in September. You will need to plan your train trip accordingly.

I went in August last year and I didn't make a reservation. You may have to wait a few minutes, but don't bother with a reservation.
