Hi. We're going to Sagada this weekend and we're taking the via Banaue route. We just found out that Autobus has stopped operation for the meantime and we were referred to take Ohayami Bus (its terminal is about two blocks away from Autobus terminal in Cayco St). Anyone here who tried taking Ohayami bus from Manila to Banaue? Are they okay (not prone to breakdowns on the road, leaves for banaue on time)? How long does it travel from Manila to Banaue? Is it 9hrs? I'd also like to ask if there is an alternative to the 830am jeepney from Banaue to Bontoc? I'd like to be sure that we have a back up if in case we cannot take the 830am jeepney? I've read somewhere that there are also buses plying Banaue-Bontoc route, is this true? Where is the bus terminal in banaue? Thanks.
Hi! How many are you? I don't know about the jeepney and bus routes, though, I've seen what it was like to travel by them. If, in your party there are those who are: 1. wearing contact lenses 2. suffering from asthma 3. people who have back pains / susceptible to back pains 4. with hemorrhoid 5. tall with long limbs, I suggest you just rent a van. We're glad we did when we went there. We were planning to hire a jeep and/or ride a bus in the beginning. Fortunately, we ended up hiring a van. The roads are rough and dusty (Manila to Banaue road is good, though). Those wearing contact lenses and are asthmatic cannot withstand the dust and the wind, and it would be a long journey. Going to Sagada, there are no airconditioned buses. They are mini-buses, no aircon (a choice from jeep). There is no enough leg room especially for those tall ones. Expect back pains as well as in your butts. Again, it would be a long, arduous journey. There are parts which are still rough country roads, particulary when nearing Sagada. A friend of mine suffered from nausea and back pains even though our van was comfortable and we didn't share a common couch. We preferred the Baguio to Sagada route, then Sagada to Bontoc to Banaue heading Manila. We rented a van in Baguio. I think Manila-Banaue can eat up 9 hours or more, depending on road conditions and the type of vehicle you'll be riding in. Banaue is still far from Sagada. I hope the road construction has been finished by now.

hi my name is paul i live in sucat paranque and i would like to answer your quaestion about the bus trip to banaue? ohayami is the bus we caught to banaue it was full and the trip was good with breaks at roadside inns, and it didnt break down its a problem if it happens i guess because its the only service running and a few buses busy schedules theres a thing called maintaining your assetts. it is 9 hours give or take an extra half an hour, the road is fine okay only going to bontoc it can be hair raising but its still under works building a new road. they say the bus from baguio through inland road has better scenery but to banaue through to bontoc its beautifull, only problem when you arrive by either jeepney or van to bontoc the van going to sagada leaves early so you have to spend a night in bontoc, anyway thats what happened to us but we didnt bother to go to sagada so this year we are going there. the bus when it arrives in banaue they have a little office there a little table and a lady who can help you, there always people to help you and vans jeepneys going to bontoc all the time basically so dont worry its beautifull there enjoy
