I am heading to Bali for the first time June 23 to 25. I have choosen to stay at Kuta Seaview Boutique Resorts as it seems to have a lot of review in the area. Any advice and guidance is appreciate.
I have been to Bali for 5 days 4 nights, the trip is very interesting as I opt to change hotel everyday. Do read the VT forum about Bali, I am sure all the discussions before would help you. Enjoy gathering more information before you depart, that would help. After your trip, I am sure you will think of want to go again, just like me. Bali is interesting, glad your pick Bali.

You changed hotels every day? That sounds like a lot of work! One of the things I liked the most about Bali was relaxing, that doesn't sound relaxing.

Rent a car with the driver...tell to your hotel front desk officer if you wanted to Rent a car, sometime a front desk man would help you to find a rental car just in front of the hotel.....or try to take a walk to the beach, there are many Balinese peoples on the streets ( the street lane in paralel with Kuta beach) in front of your Hotel which offer the tourists to hire his car .... speak friendly and go bargaining the fare to take around Bali's tourist spots ...commonly the fare for 24 hours would be IDR 400,000 ( suppose it would be a little bit cheaper if you hire less than 24 hours)...one you find the match, please inform your hotel officer to recognized the driver for your safety ....

Kuta is favourite back-packer area- and gets very wild, especially at night- lots of inebriated silly young and not so young tourists. Just take care, and avoid the very crowded bars .

Three days in Bali and all in Kuta? Too bad. So many have their first trip here exactly that way...me included some 16 years ago, and before I moved here to Bali. Just don’t go home to Canada and say, “I’ve been to Bali” as you haven’t. All you’ve been to is Kuta.

The way Bali is heading, the whole island will soon be like Kuta anyway, so what does it matter? Perhaps Kuta is the real Bali?

You’ll never see Ubud looking like Kuta, not in our lifetimes anyway. An no, Kuta has virtually noting in common with the rest of Bali, including its people, the majority of which are other than Balinese Indonesians. The idea that Kuta is “the real Bali” is laughable.

"You’ll never see Ubud looking like Kuta, not in our lifetimes anyway". Yeah, we'll see. The traffic jams on Jl Raya Ubud must be figment of my imagination then.

During peak holiday times one can find traffic jams in many parts of Bali, most especially in the south but yes, in Ubud too, largely the result of the increase in tour buses. That hardly makes Ubud anything like Kuta. They are night and day apart.
