Bali Dream

by kenyneo Online Now May 2, 2011 at 8:16 AM

Hi Vters , This is my second time visiting Bali, thus would like to focus on a few things below that I hope some of you might be able to help or point me to the right direction :- a) Focus on Sunrise and Sunset photography ~ prelim location includes Besakih Temple , Uluwatu , Pura Ulun Danu & Tirtaganga. Dont want to go to other distractions or shopping or usual touristy stops , thus wondering if its better to get a guide or drive myself instead of a package tour ? Any suggestion would be appreciated ... b) Heard Besakih is good for sunrise, while Uluwatu & Tanah Lot is good for sunset , any other locations ? c) Any good restaurants as well as restaurants with a "WoW' dining effect ...eg Sunset view etc ... Thanks

Great that you are visiting the island again :) If you know motorbike then nothing can beat that. Raod are usually marked and you can get free maps from any tourist place; airport, hotel, etc. We hardly spent USD 5 and visited Jimbaran beach, Uluwatu, Sanur, Denpasar, Kuta, and Ubud! Good thing; the motorbike was complimentary from the hotel we stayed in. In case you dont prefer a motorbike, then hiring a car is also inexpensive there. We picked brochures from the airport arrival area that helped us in booking an economical package for water sports. Tour packages also offer other day trips. However, I am not sure if it helps for the sunrise. Sunset at Uluwatu would be awesome. Unfortunately, it was cloudy when we were there. Jimbaran is unmatchable for sunset photography and seafood dinner along the beach. For sunrise, one of the good options, imo, would be Nasa Dua, clean water and peaceful location. Head to North should you need off the beaten views and secluded locations. Have a great trip Cheers :) Muzzammil

I found sunsets along the east coast stunning - Candidasa has some magnificient sunsets and there are restaurants with great views across the sea and into the setting sun. Also in the Amed area I witnessed some stunning vivid red sunsets. Enjoy your time.
