I've heard that bull races are held in Negara on Sundays through the end of October. If so, where exactly are the races held at, is there a fee to attend them & what time do they start?
Hey Tina! Well worth the effort to drive all the way out there to see this event. I haven’t been to see the race in some years, so I don’t have much in the way of up to date info for you, but, well worth the effort. As I recall, there was a charge, but it was nominal and well worth it. The location is well marked as you get into the area; it can’t be missed unless I was driving. :) If lost in transit, any warung along the road as you approach Negara will be happy to give directions. This event, for some reason I can’t figure out, is probably one of the least publicized and “hyped” activity in all of Bali. Cheers! Roy

Hi HulaGirl, The Bull Races are definetly worht seeing and they are indeed held from July to about October. It is thought that it's an ancient festival to celebrate the end of the rice harvest. The races occur on a Sunday and thay are actually held in a place called Prancak. This little village is on the West coast of Bali about ten km from Negera which is about 90 km from Denpasar and 100km from Kuta. I believe there is no fee to view the spectacle, but the locals will expect to be paid for everything and anything that they think they can possibly do for you. Hope this helps, George
