It all depends on where you would like to / can spend that night. There are dozens of towns and villages around the lake - though, if your plane leaves in the morning hours, you should stay somewhere around the Keszthely Bay, most preferably in Keszthely. If the flight leaves later, that is, in the afternoon or evening hours, it's all the same, you may even stay at the other (Eastern) end of the lake. These, are, however, for sure: You should travel via Budapest, as there is no direct connection between Beograd and the lake. There are bus and train services available: an overnight bus (dep. 21.00, arr. 5.30), an overnight train (22.15, 5.03) and a daytime train (8.30, 16.05). Here are the schedules: Bus dep. Beograd Bus Station 2100 arr. Budapest, Nepliget 0530 transfer to Budapest-Kelenfold station by bus 103 departing from the other side of the road bridge, take it all the way to its terminal stop on Etele ter, journey time is about 20 minutes plus waiting time fast train (direction Nagykanizsa) dep. Budapest-Kelenfold 0707 runs along the south shore or BATSANYI InterCity (direction Tapolca) dep. Budapest-Kelenfold 0622 runs along the north shore Trains AVALA InterCity dep. Beograd 0830 arr. Budapest-Kelenfold 1605 transfer KANIZSA InterCity (direction Nagykanizsa) dep. Budapest-Kelenfold 1628 and runs along the south shore or fast train (direction Tapolca) dep. Budapest-Kelenfold 1817 runs along the north shore BEOGRAD international express dep. Beograd 2215 arr. Budapest-Keleti 0503 transfer to Budapest-Deli station by metro M2,all the way to the terminal stop Deli palyaudvar in direction Deli pu., transfer time is about 20 minutes fast train (direction Nagykanizsa) dep. Budapest-Deli 0700 and runs along the south shore or BATSANYI InterCity (direction Tapolca) dep. Budapest Deli 0615 runs along the north shore Then, heading for the airport, you should first get to Keszthely - recommendedly by train. From Keszthely, there is a suburban bus or coach connection to Sarmellek 10-15 times a day. For more information on train schedules, visit www.elvira.hu bus schedules, visit www.menetrendek.hu, click on VOLAN Menetrendek, then type Keszthely to the field Honnan, Sarmellek to the field Hova, click on the bus stop icon next to the Hova field, select 'Sarmellek, repuloter' (Sarmellek Airport) and set the date (year, month, day).
