    • Air Transit : Urgent

      Doha Jun 4, 2014 at 12:06 AM

Hi, this is the first time I am boarding a non-direct flight. So here is the situation:

I am taking Qatar Airways from London to India with a stop in between i.e. Doha and I will be changing flights from Q565 to Q5(both are qatar) at Doha with a certain transit time.

There are options to have a transit of 1 hr/ 3hrs/ 5hrs. Which one should I choose?

Sorry this may sound very basic but I shall be really grateful if you could guide me on what happens at the transit after we get off from the first plane?

We go out/ get our documents verified/ collect our luggage and take a re-entry and go through the check in again or we are directed to some transit area/ have no luggage/ we spend time there/ directly go to the required platform/ board the next flight? How does this happen? PLZ Guide

      Thanks in Advance !

    • Where is the best place to sit on the plane?

      Doha Apr 21, 2014 at 6:47 AM

I am travelling to Doha (stop-over on the way to Paris) on an 11 hour flight and am wondering which seats are the best on a Boeing 777-300ER (77W) V1. I'm travelling with my parents and siblings, and am currently thinking that the bulkhead seats are a good option. The only issues are that apparently we have reduced seat width and the personal TV will come out of the armrest instead of it being in front of us.

If anyone has experience with this plane/flight or something similar, your advice would be appreciated. This is my first international flight and I need all the help I can get!

      Thank you.

      Doha Nov 7, 2013 at 1:14 PM

We are planning on visiting Doha at the start of March for a few days.

What are the more interesting sites to visit?

How many days should we allow?
The better hotels seem to be spread all around the city, so which area would be best to stay in?
      We welcome all suggestions.

      Thanks.

We'll be in Doha after Christmas and over the New Year and wonder a few things: 1. Is it a given there'll be good fireworks visible from the corniche area? 2. are all dune-bashing trips safe/insured/etc? 3. Do any of the dune-bashing trips also incorporate camel rides? 4. Can you squeeze the Souq Waqif, Falcon Souq and Wholesale Market into one trip by taxi/driver/whatever? Thanks for any advice.

First, do we need a visa prior of arrival? i read in one of the answers that it takes over an hr. just to clear the area of getting the visa. is that true? lets say we get out of there by 7:30pm. is there anything else to do except the souk? any malls or such like in dubai? if we arrive back at the airport around midnight, is that early enough? thx!

      Hello,

I arrive at doha airport at 23 15 and leave in the morning(boarding time 07 55).

You think it is possible to get out, have some sightseeing(even at night), and come back in time?

I don't know if at night there's movement on the streets, taxis available, etc.

thank you very much in advance,

Help! My transit in Doha Airport is of 20 hours..!!

      Doha Aug 31, 2012 at 8:04 AM

Hello everyone! I am flying to Chicago via Doha next week and I have a transit time there of about 20 hours. I have been reading some of the reviews and stories that people have posted on the net about the airport in Doha and it does not sound like a pleasant place to spend so much time. I have a Pakistani passport. Will I be able to get a transit visa to go out and sight-see since I cant spend that much time sitting around? Moreover can I get hotel stay or a meal voucher or something since the transit is long? I asked the travel agent this but he said this wont be possible as the airline we are going to be flying from Europe onwards does not have such a contract with Qatar Airlines. So can anyone help me? What can I do during the 20 hours? Being a Pakistani, can I get transit visa for a few hours to see the city rather than rotting at the airport the whole day long? And are there any good fast food places at the airport? I would really appreciate some guidance as this is my first time traveling via Doha. Thanks!
