change location

dog friendly pubs / other eateries

by fizzb Online Now Mar 28, 2006 at 12:25 PM

Wonder if anyone can help....we're heading to Bakewell for the weekend, and need somewhere to eat (well, ideally two places, one for Friday, one for Sat!) that will let us take a well behaved dog in with us.

Any ideas? Central Bakewell preferred (so no-one has to drive!), but we can travel a few miles if necessary.

Thanks in advance.

A query about my home town that I can answer!

To be honest at the weekend most of the pubs in town can get pretty busy and I am not sure any are particularly dog friendly. One option is to try the Peacock on the market square, ask Craig the Landlord nicely and he may find you room at at the back of the pub where you can keep the dog at your feet or let it sit in the garden outside.

Better by far is the Lathkil Hotel at Over Haddon, 1.5 miles up the hill from town (my main hostelry of choice). This places loves dogs, especially in the small public bar. Great views, nice fire and the food is usually pretty reasonable. Nice 15 roll back down the hill into town.
