    • Winterfest

      Salzburg May 16, 2013 at 9:10 AM

I just found some limited information online about Winterfest. We will be in Munich in December and are planning a day trip to Salzburg. One of our travelers is an experienced juggler and might enjoy something like this. Is it an "open" sort of things, where you can wander the tents, or do you only purchase tickets for a specific show and there's only one thing going on at a time? From the English portion of their website it was somewhat difficult to be sure. Any guidance would be appreciated it. Opinions on whether it's worth it for the money are much appreciated as well.

      Bus 840

      Salzberg Apr 24, 2013 at 3:04 AM

Hi. Can someone kindly tell me does the 840 bus leave from any where near salzburg centre or is it only from train station, the price for Adult, the price for child.
There is 5 Adults, a 14 year old and 2 toddlers under 4 is it possible to get the Bayern ticket or the Einfach Raus ticket would this cover the 5 Adults €38 and the 3 children go free or do I have to get reduced fare for 14 year old. Advice on the subject welcome.

      Purchasing train tickets?

      Hallstatt 10 hours ago

I am arriving to Hallstatt via bus, so I'm assuming they're dropping me off downtown. I am planning on staying in the city for a couple of hours and then taking a train to Vienna. Few q's

      - Any place in the city to leave luggage?
      - Any place where I could buy train tickets, or should I just take the boat accross and buy the tickets on the other side?
      - Is the train station in Hallstatt manned? Can I buy tickets there on the spot (on a Saturday afternoon) or do I need to buy them in advance on the internet?

      thanks!
      Carlos

      Bad weather?

      Hallstatt May 18, 2013 at 4:16 AM

Hi, we are going to Hallstatt in a months time, but when I checked the weather forecast it showed that it probably will be raining in this part of Europe. I know weather forecasts are not reliable in this sense - 30 days ahead, let alone the climate change, etc. - but I'm already thinking of backup plans - just in case :) I was wondering whether it would still be possible to go up to the salt mine and/ or ice cave if it was raining. Do they operate the funicular in such weather coniditons? I understand that on rainy days there is no point in going up to the 5 fingers and the viewing point, but I hope that the caves still can be viewed by visitors. Could anyone confirm this, please? Or do you think it would be better if I asked the tourist center in Hallstatt via e-mail about these things? Thanks a lot for your replies in advance!

Want to stay with a family in a guesthouse

by jamisonpi Online Now Feb 21, 2013 at 6:34 PM

My son and I will be traveling to Austria to train in table tennis in Schwechat. We do not want to stay in Schwechat but are drawn to Baden Bei Wien. I would like to stay in an apartment or live with a family near the center of town. We would like to be able to take a train everyday to Schwechat and Vienna on our free days. Can anyone offer me any suggestions or know someone that we can stay with?

      Thanks

    • Baden bei Wien

by philB2003 Online Now Jan 1, 2008 at 6:01 PM

My family and I were Hungarian refugees in Austria in 1956-1957. About the first 3 months we lived in a beautiful small hotel a villa that served as a sanitarium part of the year in Baden bei Wien. I was only 10 years old at the time. However, I still remember the beautiful setting. To get there our auto had to drive a serpentine road. We were treated royally during our entire stay. I remember the wrought iron fence by the entrence. I am trying to plan a return visit possibly this summer. Would anyone have the name of the place with possible photographs? Much thanks in advance PhilB2003
