by RaginiPai Online Now Jan 15, 2013 at 3:41 AM

Hello,
My 10 year old daughter, my husband and myself are planning a trip to Austria in March. From Salzburg, we are planning a day trip to Bad Recichenhall(salt mine and inhalitorium) and then lake Königssee and back to Salzburg. Is this doable in a day? And is bayern ticket the best option? please suggest...

A long day but possible. You would need a Bayern Ticket for 2 persons (EUR 26). Your daughter is free when traveling with you. Note that the Bayern Ticket covers only the regional trains from Salzburg Hbf to Freilassing (where you have to change for Bad Reichenhall) and the bus 840 between Berchtesgaden and Salzburg Hbf. Other trains and buses in/from/to Salzburg are not covered. Inside Bavaria the ticket covers however all regional trains and buses (like from Berchtesgaden to Lake Königssee). Bayern Ticket is on weekdays (Mo-Fr) only valid past 9am. Thus it would be best to do this trip on a Sa or Su if you can and start before 9am.
