Hello! I am going to Aveiro from Hong Kong. I am frustrated on how to get to Aveiro from Porto Airport or Lisboa Airport. Moreover, can u suggest some places to be visited in Aveiro? as well as hotel to stay for a week.. As I'm going to University of Aveiro , which hotel you recommend is near to the University. Last but not least, can u recommend where I can download some bochure about Aveiro travel guide from the Internet? Thanks ~~
To reach Aveiro from Porto airport is quite straightforward. First you take the Metro from the airport to Porto Campanha Station. That takes about 30 minutes. From Campanha there are frequent local (Urbanos) trains to Aveiro. (Do NOT take an Intercity train, they are much more expensive!) The journey Porto - Aveiro takes about one hour. The station at Aveiro is on the edge of town so you may have to walk a little or take a bus/taxi to your final destination. To reach Aveiro from Lisbon Airport is also straightforward but a much longer journey. First you need to take a taxi or bus (number 44) from the Airport to Lisbon Oriente station. From there, the trains run about once every hour to Aveiro. This journey is just over 2 hours by the fastest trains, about 2hrs 30 minutes by others. These are all Intercity or Alfa Pendular high speed trains for which reservations are essential. You can download timetables for both options and also reserve on line for the trains from Lisbon at www.cp.pt - note that reservations open for sale a maximum of 30 days before travel. Most of the railway website (www.cp.pt) can be ssen in English if required by clicking on the little icona t the top of teh home page next to where it says 'Acesso Rapido'. I trust that helps and have a good journey.

Hi Joylam, I would say the best place to stay in Aveiro for a week is the Hotelaria Alboi. Heliopinto has just rightly recommended you the Residencial Alboi, and the Hotelaria is very near the Residencial and run by the same people, but it has several advantages: 1. The rooms have kitchenettes which for a stay of a week is very useful - you don't have to eat out all the time. 2. If you get a room at the front the views are spectacular - right over the Canal. The price was excellent when I stayed there for 2 weeks a couple of years ago: about 48 euros per night I think it was. I really think it's the best place in Aveiro. The rooms are great, the breakfast's in a lovely patio... can't recommend it enough! It's on the same website as the Residencial: http://www.residencial-alboi.com/

Most importantly! - have you clicked on the 'Travel Guide' click on here on the Aveiro forum page that takes you to the VT travel guide section where you will find many excellent pages put together by VTers - no doubt painstakingly! - for you to hopefully have as much info as you would need. To help they are rated and ranked according to viewers/readers ratings - particularly the Top 5 - and then down through the list. So please take opportunity of the hard work to put these pages together and also rate them as you see appropriate to give them a pat on the back. Then you could perhaps email directly to individual VTers or visit their home page and place a comment asking for some particular info that you need more on. The tips and pages that are put together can be saved into your own travel guide and can also be printed out. Enjoy your time in Portugal! (I havent got any pages on Aveiro but I have elsewhere around Portugal...!)
