On our April visit I'll want to visit several museums - we have nine full days. Is there a concentrated web page listing opening days, or do I have to look separately for information about each museum? I'll try to buy with senior citizens discount, though it may not be possible for us anyway.
Can I buy tickets ahead at the tourist information? I don't want to stand in line a lot at every museum, or maybe it's not a crowded season? If there's a free entry day, I don't want to be there. I had enough of that at the Hermitage.
Using credit cards, is it done for buying entrance tickets? Restaurants?
I WILL BE IN INNSBRUCK for 2 days or 1 day and i get tour to much 1 day i should take i or stay for 2 days if u can provide me place i should visit thx
Will it still be deep enough to scuba dive in July? Possibly around the 12?
Are there any discounts for seniors? We're not Euro citizens. For museums, city transportation, train to Budapest?
Ski rental shop nearest to chalet harkenhaiser please
We want to see the Melk Abbey. Should we take a day tour from Vienna, which includes a boat trip to Melk, or should we find our own transportation? Does the day tour go with the regular guided abbey tours, or does this group do their own tour, maybe cut short to have time for lunch, or the upriver boat takes a long time?
I usually don't like the trips which take a long time to collect the people from various hotels, and then waste time for restaurants. But maybe they have some transportation to up the 40 meters up to the abbey. We originally planned to do this with a car when returning to Vienna from the west, but that trip was cancelled, and now we're staying only in Vienna.
Would it be ok to choose Strobl as a base to explore Salzburg? What other day trips could I do from this village?
Thanks for your replies.
I am a single female coming to europe for the first time this march on a riverboat cruise. I will be in durnstein on march 6 and was wondering if there is any way to book a private tour with a local?. thank you, Pat
We'll be in Vienna around Easter day. Will there be changes in opening times, places closed, transportation changes? Maybe we'll have to change a hotel on this day. Should we try to do this a day earlier?
Is Klosterneuburg within the limits of the Vienna transit system day pass or is a separate ticket needed?
Hi fellow VTer's
I am trying to book a hotel in Vienna and I am getting lot cheaper rates on Olotels.com compared to other known sites. I have never used this site in the past. They ask for a payment and email you a voucher that you have to present at the hotel. I am bit apprehensive about this.
Has anyone used this site and would you please kindly share your experience.
We plan to visit Austria in April 2014. Our original plan was to go in September 2012, but I broke my leg the day before the trip. I planned then to be in Vienna one week, and two weeks driving around the country.
I think that April is too early for the country driving, so I'm planning now to be only in Vienna, for two weeks. We don't want to hurry and rush, to see museums - specially Hundertwasser, Klimt, and much much more. A day trip to Melk, one more day trip if there is public transport. Of course opera and concerts.
Do you think that two weeks is too much? I hear many friends saying they were sorry that they didn't have time to see all they wanted.
We've driven in Austria in the summer (about 1990) from the west to Krimmlfall, but never been in Vienna.
I will arrive Vienna airport at 5:10pm and rent a apartment in Durnstein. Would like to know
wWhat is the fast way from vienna to Durnstein and what is the cost?
We are planning to arrive in Vienna as a group of 4 adults, 3 kids (ages: 6-10) on 25th or 26th of January and we have 5 nights to spend. We will be coming back home from Salzburg.
We would like to decide how many nights we should stay in Vienna, Salzburg and other options if you could help us with the following questions. Thank you in advance.
1- How many nights in Vienna?
2- Any must-see attractions for our kids in Vienna?
3-Besides Vienna and Salzburg which other cities, towns or even villages in Austria or neighbouring countries we should visit? (not more than 2 hours by train or car)?
4- Is it dangerous to rent a car and drive in January?
Hello, i would like to know where this picture is taken ? This is a little photographie shop on Salzburg where you can wear costumes and be photographed. I would like to get the contact info, name of the shop, the telephone and email address.
According to Linz Tourism publicity one can make use of discounted rail travel to Linz with "Sparbillet Oesterreich" for journeys from the Czech Republic, said to be available from www.oebb.at . But I cannot find any information on their website about the terms and conditions of such tickets, and I want to book 4 months in advance for a journey from a town in Southern Bohemia, but booking the tickets from the U.K. Can anyone give me some tips on how to find such rail tickets?
Day 1 arrive Salzburg round 10:00am on 30 April (therefore not able to visit Eagle Nest as it only opens in Mid-May)
Day 2 Join day tour to Burg Hoherwerfen
Day 3 Jennerbahn / Konigssee / Ramsau Village and Berchtesgaden City Centre
Day 4 St. Gilgen / St. Wolfgang
Originally Day 1 planned to visit salt mine in Berchtesgaden however it seems a bit silly if I just travel to the salt mine (Salzbergwerk) as I plan to go to Berchtesgaden in Day 3. Should I go to the Salt Mine in Hallein instead for Day 1 and time is feasible after I check-in in my hotel? Are these two Salt Mines only on different location and not make much different to visit either one? or else any suggestions for Day 1?
(I've been visiting Salzburg last Easter hence won't spend too much time in town)
If you miss the train for which the ticket has been bought (due to flight delays etc) are you able to use it on the next available train??
Hi thinking of heading to soll new years eve 2014/2015, havenever skied before but have been to soll many times in the summer months, is there a good stmodphere new years eve??

Thinking of going to Ischgl in March, is it a good resort for Boarders, if not which resort in Austria do you recommend
I booked a 2-bedroom apartment in hotel Stubnerhof, Bad Gastein, for the period December 24-29 2013, but one room is now free because our friends changed plans. If you're looking for a place to stay in this period, we can share.
The price for the whole apartment is €705 + €55 for cleaning.
I am going to Vienna this weekend and I'l stay at Austria Trend Hotel Bosei (Gutheil-Schoder-Gasse 7B, 10. Favoriten).
I know public transport is not really close, there's Badner Bahn station (I am not sure which one) and U-Bahn Tscherttegasse station. As I travel with my car, I'd like to know if there's a possibility of parking nearby those stations so I would just drive from the hotel to the station, leave my car there, go to the centre by train and return back to the station; the thing is, return to the hotel at nigh by foot seems to be rather desolate (and I'll be tired anyway) so this would be the perfect solution.
How to get from Innsbruck to Vomperberg
How to get from Innsbruck to Vomperberg
I was in Innsbruck 9 weeks ago (Oct. 2013) and a guide took our group into a small courtyard in the Olde Town section of Innsbruck. There were carved dark wood railings on at least 3 sides going up 3 or 4 floors. It was striking against the light colored walls. There was a small fountain against one wall. I can't recall what she said the building once was. Was it an early school or hospital? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Innsbruck was so lovely and charming to visit. I hope to return and spend more time exploring its historic treasures.
Hi I will be travelling to Seefeld in a couple of weeks and I am wondering where the christmas market is held? (I will also be going to a spa at Hotel Diana and am would like to know how far away it is from that.) Since I'm coming to Seefeld for a daytrip from Munich, I'm also wondering how large the christmas market is and how long to spend there? (I know this is a subjective question!) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. What could you recommend for me and my family (wife ant two doughters 8 and 11) in reutte? We are staying there for two nights on 29/12/2013.
My wife and I will be in Vienna on 19 December, when Austria Wien plays Ried, and we are thinking about going to the game.
Are tickets easy to get, and how much would they cost?
Also, how safe is it?
Is it dangerous for a couple to go to the game, and to and from the stadium?
Does anybody know how good is the public transport in Schlitters to travel short or longer journeys in August. The train shown in the photo, where does it go and how regular is it?
Are there buses? Any help appreciated.
