I asked in another post but haven't really got an answer so thought I would post it as indiviual question.
My husband wants to do the drive around Fiji, he read a blog by someone who in 2010 rented a Toyota 4x4, and took a day tour (I think it took 6 hours) and drove from Nadi using Queens Road to Lautoka, Kings Road to Ba, then back roads to Navala, Bukuya and Sigatoka, then Queens Road to Nadi. Is this a good idea? Is it safe? Tom has done driving on the left side, and we are doing a driving tour in NZ.
The website for the guys blog is http://www.44john.com/voyagers/fiji/ if anyone is interested
The roads are reasonable but there are more potholes than you may be used to. It's safe. I would allow longer than that time wise as you will want to stop and look at things. The areas around the cities are in better condition than some of the country roads. Check with your hotel or the car people first as sometimes Viti Levu is subject to flash flooding in the wet season.
