Hello fellow travellers:)
Me and my husband (just married) are travelling to Australia for the first time this december/january.
I am 27 years, he is 30 years old. Interest wise we LOVE to experience things out of the ordinary, and now it has lead us to Australia. Below follows our plan, and questions in each place.
Travel plan:
29 december - 2nd january - stay in Sydney.
- Any suggestions where to stay ? The city is filling up :( Could rent apartment, want to live central. Also - anyway who knows where I can book boat cruise for New Years Eve ? And a good place to eat :)? What MUST we do, while in Sydney?
2nd January - 6th january - Stay in Orange, Canberra and Blue Mountains with friends. Flight to Brisbane
6th january - 13th january - Brisbane
- Want to go to Fraser Island. Any good companies for adults, not the party boats and stuff ? Want to stay in Fraser Island for two nights. Any trips or hotels to recommend ? Also should we stay at Noosa Heads for the rest, and explore ?
13th january - 19th january - Cairns. Flight from Brisbane.
Great Barrier Reef. Anyone knowing GOOD companies that include both possibility to snorkle and dive ? Where to live ?
Some general questions:
-We want to experience Rainforest, hiking and such. Where to go if we stay in Cairns or Brisbane ?
-Any companies that have excursions, day trips etc that we should consider ?
We are young at heart, but we want to stay in hotels and apartments, not hostels.
Thank you in advance EVERYBODY:)
Hey, we are two german girls, who are doing backpacking. We want to go to fraser island by our own, without an expensive tour. ~27-30.05.2013.
Is there somebody who want to join us, hire a car, doing camping and share the costs?
Looking forward to your answer, (our email: stesi9085@googlemail.com)

Hi, I'm planning a short escape to LHI while on my trip to Oz. How's the weather then? is it warm enough to snorkel wihtout a neoprene? I'm aware it's the beginning of spring and other places mainland might be a little bit chilly, but as it seems to be a subtropical locations, I was wondering whether it is worth to stay more or less depending on the temperatures and possibility (or not) to swim and so.
Thanks!
I'm travelling to perth in the 2nd week of Aug for a week. It'll be my hubby, my 1yr old boy & myself.
I need some suggestion as to how should I plan my itinery and it's our first time doin a self-drive in AU, thus we need some guidance on how to get about planning our routes and getting our accomodations along the way.. Thanks in advance !
what does "billy boil" mean?
Hi!
I'm booking flights to Australia in the next few days, to go for 3 weeks in late Oct/early Nov. First time I've been (and as you'll see from this post) I'm a complete novice!
I think I want to fly into Sydney - but, where do I go from there?! Money is tight, so although I want to travel as much as possible I can't go too crazy with internal flights (unfortunately, I don't drive and neither does my travel buddy).
I was thinking of heading to Cairns? Is there enough there/the surrounding area to keep us occupied for the majority of our stay? Could we incorporate Fraser Island into this plan?
OR should I ditch this idea completely, and go London-Melbourne, and explore this area instead?!
Would really appreciate any advice that will help me make the most of my trip :) Thank you!
Hello, Me and the soon to be wife will be taking a 15 day holiday road tripping from the Gold Coast to Cairns to see the Great Barrier Reef in January of 2014. We're going up the coast in a caravan/camper and we're looking for places to eat, sleep, drink and have fun.
We both love to hike, surf, drink, and lay on the beach to let the sun burn off our hangovers.
Also, what places could we stay at along the way? We been to caravan parks that are loaded with kids and crotchety couples, we're looking for a more laid back atmosphere, would love to meet like minded people along the way.
Please reply back, thanks.

Hello all!
I am moving to London on a 2 year working visa in July and am wondering whether I should take a suitcase or a backpack over? I would be staying in hostels until I could find a share house to move into. Not sure which would be more practical?
Thanks
me and my friend will be arriving in Sydney next february, and plan to travel and work up East Coast via greyhound.
any ideas how long we should stay in Sydney to begin with and should we stay in different hostels? how long should we stay in the first one for? a week or so?
Hi, I am new to this site, I am planning to travel to oz in September and planing to stay as long as possible. I will be traveling on my own is this safe? If anyone is planning to go around this time and would like some one to travel with then feel free to message me. I am 20years old girl and from Manchester. I would also like to know where are the cheapest places for accommodation? Will I be able to get a job easily? Ie fruit picking, bar work, waitress. Although I don't have much experience. How much money would I need? Thanks - Fallon x
I am in the UK and hoping to visit Sydney in March 2014 for a month. What is the best way to book reasonably priced accommodation for this amount of time? I would be wanting at most a small apartment or at very least a bedroom with ensuite for just one person. I have seen sites with rooms in houses but with shared bathrooms which does not appeal to me.
This may sound daft but do I need a visa if I am just visiting for a month on holiday?
Thanks for any advice
Tamara

Hi, I would really appreciate any advice. I am planning to fly to Brisbane to stay with my brother and his family. I have signed up for the airline newsletters and keep an eye out for flash sales but they are all for June 2013 at the moment. Is it possible to get a good deal on flights this early or will I need to wait until nearer the time. We have saved up so have the cash to pay immediately. We live in Manchester but would be prepared to fly from London if it is significantly cheaper. The flights are for my and my husband and our 12 year old twins. Thank you very much in anticipation of your help and advice. Janie
I've been advised to book all accommodation and activities before we leave UK, but don't really want to commit us to doing certain things on certain days because we've booked them. We want a freer approach but don't want to miss out. Any advice?
Hey everyone, I'm Sophie
I'm new to all of this but its just a quick question.
I'm 21 from London i will be studying in Melbourne City for 7 months. And i'm unsure of where to stay for accommodation obviously i'm on a cheap budget and can't be spending $250 per week which is what is coming up. Does anyone know of any student(ish) areas.
Also a-lot of the room rentals sound really bloody boring i may-be 21 and doing my final year, but i still have a life and want to socialise :D. Many of the rooms offered want boring people at the sounds of it. I want to know if anyone knows of a student website for international students travelling to Australia to have a chat and get to meet new people. I want to take full advantage of being Australia not pitched up in a room full of people that can't be bothered to talk! We only live once and i intend on getting the most out of my stay. HELP PEOPLE!!!!! :)
Fr singapore, we planning for a trip to perth in late June, i am still wondering what type of winter wear to prepare for my 2 yrs old boy. We are staying for 6 nights. no idea of where to stay... as our flight will reach perth around 12 midnight... i am thinking should i stay at a hotel near airport first and change to a city hotel/apartment the next day/.... and where we should go taking into consideration of our 2 years old boy? thanks!
Hi! I have been given the challenge to plan our visit to Australia and will be traveling soon (late May, early June), and finding it difficult to find a travel agent who is knowledgeable enough to help. We are a couple coming from the US (Boston area) and traveling with 2 adult children (21 & 23). We all love beaches and adventure. We are a little short on time and plan to take flights in the interest of time where necessary. Most of our party will be originating from Sydney having spent several days there. Having trouble figuring out the best way to see a lot and yet have a somewhat relaxing enjoyable vacation. Considering renting a Catamaran and learning to sail to see the islands, however, not opposed to other alternatives including a resort with something for everyone. Really want to see Hamilton Island and Whitehaven Beach, and open to other suggestions (read something about Fraser Island and renting 4x4's?). Any advice will be greatly appreciated! This is most likely a once in a lifetime trip for us.
My friends and I are traveling to Gold Coast for the first time in June 2013. Bought tickets already! But we haven't got any idea of where to stay! Surfers paradise is always recommended when I survey online. So SP it is. Could you please please recommend where to stay in SP? A convenient hotel or an apartment which is affordable? For 4 adults? Thank you so much for any feedback.
Hi all I'm new to the forum and was just looking for some advice,
About 2 months ago I obtained a 1 Year Working Visa for Australia and am due to travel there at the end of June from the UK.
My passport became slightly damaged since then and only had a year and a half left on it so I decided its proabbly best just to renew it before leaving. I didn't realise at the time but the passport number also changes with this new passport which is attached to my Australian visa.
What is the best thing to do here and has anyone had a similar experience?
Hi, I am planning to go to London in August this year. This will be my first flight to London and I have never done such a long fligth before. Could you please suggest a good airline interms of good service, leg space, food and reasonable price? I prefer one stopover. I am looking at a few options i.e. Etihad, Cathay, British, Emirates. Please share your experience to help me decide which airline to fly.
Thanks heaps in advance.
I have just moved to Brisbane and am staying in Nundah temporarily. I have just had an interview for a job in Carindale, I was not intending to look for work anywhere other than the CBD or Northside as my sister lives North and I am more familiar with this side of the river. But jobs proved hard to find and I had to cast the net a bit further! So, I am wondering what the best thing would be to do if I did get this job - Where to live and transportwise what would be cheaper.
Should I live on the Southside and commute by public transport or car, OR stay North so im closer to my sister and the city for social convenience, and drive over toll bridges to get to Carindale. I had to get a train and bus today, which was fine but it took an hour! And would cost about $10 return I think, with a GO card.
Tolls, GO card charges, commute time, social life, working around the Brisbane river its all a bit of a logistical nightmare haha.
Basically I just want to be within about half an hour of work, dont mind paying a little for transport costs - I will be working in the westfield mall so I doubt I could park right at work anyway, bus would be an option or park somewhere free and walk. Don't have a car at moment but will get one once job is sorted.

Were coming to WA mid September for 3 weeks, do we hire car or campervan, hope to go up to Kalbarri and down to ALbany, any thoughts, hotels seem quite expensive
Can someone point me in the direction of where I can find a travel companion (strictly platonic) for a cruise in Australia? I'm an American Italian in my mid 30's and my parents lived in Australia for nearly 20 years before moving to the states and I'd like to visit the area they lived (Melbourne and Adelaide). I'm thinking a trip on Celebrity around the December time frame. I would appreciate any recommendations be e-mailed to me @ giodoc1@gmail.com.
Thank you,
Hi I'm travelling to Sydney in December and looking to find some accommodation pretty central for 3/4 weeks from 16th Dec. Wondering if anyone knows any relatively cheap housing suitable for backpackers for me and potentially a few fellow travellers I'm meeting over there. Many thanks
I'll be riding a bike south from Laos and across Cambodia and wish to know the closest border crossing into Vietnam from Kampong Cham. Thanks, Mike
My partner and I are traveling around Australia, and cant decide on the right car for our trip, we are looking to travel for about 18 months, looking to do light 4wd nothing over the too, we're goin to be towing a off-road camper van, the van is rated 1500 GVM but net weight is 600kg, looking for a daul cab or SUV over a cab chassis, hope to hear from people and learn more, thanks
