What city would people recommend to go to first... Sydney or Melbourne? Our planned arrival date is the 01st May on a WHV (Working Holiday Visa). We'll be looking to get office jobs & renting a shared apartment. If people could let us know the pro's and con's of both cities that would be great. Thanks
Hi, welcome to VT.
If you're planning to visit both it doesn't matter which you visit first really, depending on how long you'll be staying. Your arrival is the last month of autumn and if you're staying any length of time you'll be into winter. The weather in Sydney is (usually) a bit less cold and wet than Melbourne.
For pros and cons of the two cities look through our Melbourne and Sydney pages here on VT, where you'll find everything you need. Just click on our names and follow the links or use the search panel up on the top right.

As already mentioned if you are planning on visiting both it won't matter which one you visit first. Melbourne has more historical attractions than Sydney but of course Sydney in a way is more beautiful because it is located by the sea. As said do some research on the VT destination pages and hopefully you will make your mind up.

Both cities are great- however, I would go to Melbourne first because its getting towards winter, and it gets much colder (in June, July) in Melbourne. Then head off north to Sydney when it becomes too cold in Melbourne.
