Hi members I know that New Zealand is famous for musssels and oysters. Could any one tell me the good places for having these food in Auckland or Rotorua with reasonable price? Thanks a lot.
I am relatively sure that the only places where you can get this at reasonable prices is directly from factory shops like this one: clevedonoysters.com/shop.htm... They are also available at the St. Pierre's sushi shops. You might know, however, that NZ's most famous oysters come from Bluff at the other (southern) end of the country and are expensive everywhere. For those I would go to a fish market, have them opened and buy lemons and a bottle of white wine at the supermarket. Rather good mussels are available at fish markets/shops and supermarkets. If you have no car to drive to Clevedon you best go to the fishmarket. More info here: http://www.afm.co.nz/ You also get mussels there. I got the best mussels fresh from the producer on Coromandel Peninsula, near Coromandel Town. NZ's mussel capital is Havelock in the Marlborough Sounds, though.
