Hi everybody, My family (2 Children & 2 adults) are going to travel to the north of Spain in the first week of June. we are going to rent a car in the airport of Oviedo. We planning to stay in Ribadesella. Does anybody know how much it will cost to rent a car (Is it expensive?) How does it work over there? There is anything that we'll need to know? Hi! We are traveling to Gijon for about a week at the end of September. There are 4 of us and a baby. We'd really like to rent a house that sleeps 4 people and is also non-smoking. I have been researching transportation from Oviedo to Covadonga. alsa.es has buses but we would have to stay there longer than we want to spend there - so am looking at renting a car. I rented a car via Hertz in Malaga before, but am looking into other companies. This is what we need: - no hassles - I would like to pay all possible insurances so if I hit something I don't have any out of pocket expenses. I know, this is not optimal but I prefer it that way. - pick up and return at reasonable hours. There's a Hertz and Avis right by the train station/bus station in Oviedo ... I am leaning in that direction except for the expen$e, but pick up is 9:30 am, so we will need to pick up late the date before. Anyone open earlier/later? The airport location is too far. - need around 300 KM - we will only have the car for the 71 km. from Oviedo to the Covadonga sanctuary. -no surprises - sometimes I'd rather pay more than have any car mileage or other surprise from a smaller rental. I saw the other recommendations in this forum and did not care for the companies mentioned. Any stable car companies or other suggestions? We just need the car for one day. I may just be renting from Avis and getting it over with - but if there is a better opiton I would welcome hearing about it. Thanks. Martha

We are planning to be in the Asturias area from Sept 27 to Oct 30 - 4 couples with 2 cars. Would like to stay in a hotel convenient to daay trip in the area. Local travel guide perhaps would be helpful. Preferred language English.

w e were in santa eulalia a few weeks ago and came across a lovely apartment complex in the centre of the town.they were named the "conquesa apartments" and try as we might, we cannot locate them through the internet in order to place a reservation for november.they are situated very near to the QUEEN VIC english pub. can anyone assist in getting the name of the street? or even better--- tell us how we can makea booking to the proper place. thanks.

Do the rooms in the Hotel San Miguel have air conditioning and a television? Are they currently having any construction work or rehabilitation going on in the hotel or nearby?

Does anyone know what is going on with the Playa Del Sol Los Cabos? They closed for the summer, but there is no scheduled date to reopen. There is a company in Florida that claims they bought the property, but the Playa group says they still own it. We have a reservation over spring break 2010, and I've very concerned. Please reply if you have any info, or if you've recently had a reservation for this property while they were closed. Did they move you? Thanks!!

Hi, We are staying near Infiesto thru most of June and July this year and whilst there my daughter (19) fancies spending a few days on her own in Bordeaux to improve her French language skills. I've spent the last few hours checking out the ALSA, RENFE, FEVE, TGV sites and it looks like an absolute nightmare to do a journey like this. There are multiple changes (train to train, train to bus, bus to train etc)and it seems to take around 18 hours!Frankly, it would be easier for me to drive her there (but I suspect that she wouldn't be too keen on that). Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to do what should, on the face of it , be a relatively simple journey? If anyone has done a trip like this (or even Oviedo to Bordeaux or Santander to Bordeaux) would you mind sharing how you did it? Any alternative suggestions would be very welcome! Thanks in advance.

hi, we're off to green spain very soon and wondered if the new therapy centre in gijon was fully open and what the general price was as we are a family of four and fancy hanging out by the pool (play area bit too) not bothered about actually booking treatments as yet. the website has no price list. also wondered about the aquarium as website in spanish and i've tried to understand it but to no avail as i only know basic stuff!! also any other info about what to do with family (2 boys 12 and 15) what be greatly received - especially about nearby beaches that have some amenities such as toilets and eateries. many thanx happy travelling

Hi Everyone My hubby and I are travelling to Asturias in June (arriving from the ferry in Santander) we will be there for 8 days altogether driving around in our car and would like to explore as much of it as we can as it looks so beautiful. I wandered if any of you know any really good camp sites as we will be camping all the time. I have done a lot of research on the internet but can't really find any info apart from a couple of addresses. Would love to hear from anyone who has been to any or knows of any that stand apart from the rest i.e. nice surroundings, clean, big pitch etc etc. I also heard there is one in the national park but can't seem to find it? Please can anyone help me, I would be very grateful, this is my first time in Spain and I am so looking forward to it. Thanks Shell

Hi My 7 year old son has asked to go to the Jurassic Museum in Asturias. I've identified the museum and the sites that he would like to see, but i've no idea where to stay in the area!! I assume that we can fly to Ranon (OVD), where is the best place to stay to visit the museum and see the surrounding area, we're hoping to go for a long weekend in May if possible. hi guys, yes it'd that time of the year again! My family and I are off to Spain in August, yippee! Just wondered if anyone could recommend a suitable hotel for 1 night only in or around Gijon, as we have 1 night to kill before our villa is available and Gijon seems to be the perfect midway point. Would like to know if any hotels offer family rooms/adjoining room as boys will be 12 and 15 and getting too large to sleep in makedo camp beds. Not sure if hotels would allow them a room on their own either. We're not fussed about too many 'facilities' or stars as long as the hotel is comfortable and friendly. We are visiting Gijon over christmas and new years with KIDS! 4 year old, 2 year old and 8months old. Are there any place we should visit? Any playgrounds? Please give me some recommendation on family friendly (not classy) restaurant that serves good food. Thank you thank you thank you. I am so excited to visit such a beautiful city. Also, if anyone knows.. Is it easy to get around town by bus with kids? If we taxi, I thought we would need child car seat. (am I right?) so, bus is the only option seems like. we have never been to this part of spain, and are planning to drive for two weeks (asturias to, eventually, barcelona, starting in madrid). will we be able to navigate the roads? should we be worried about weather? we would very much like to drive through the Picos de Europa National Park... is this unrealistic for this time of year? thanks for any input!
