I am planning a trip to Asheville, and will be using Marriott points for my hotel. So...I can use the Fairfield, Springhill, Marriott, Renaissance, or Courtyard hotels. There are several in the area...can someone give me background regarding which is the best location (safe, close to attractions)? Also, if you can give insight into which is a nice hotel, that would be great, too. I suggest the Renaissance. Its an older property, maybe 25 years by now, but its downtown near a lot of different and good restaurants.Downtown Asheville is safe and fun and the parking situation at the hotel is good. I find the traffic in Biltmore annoying and sometimes downright snarly, but you will have to deal with it at least once to see the Biltmore House, which of course is an absolute must. The countryside around Cherokee is beautiful and there is a casino if that interests you but you would be more than 1 1/2 hours away from downtown or the airport. Enjoy!

I won't be using my Marriott points while we are in Asheville in a couple of weeks, but maybe we will run into each other.
