ASHEVILLE SEEMS SO EXPENSIVE. I WANT TO MOVE FROM HOUSTON TO WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA, IS THERE A CHEAPER AREA THAT HAS THE BEAUTY OF THE MOUNTAINS? I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER, WHAT ABOUT JOBS IN THAT AREA? THANKS

I live in the Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk Area. Not so expensive as Asheville and very beautiful. It's a growing area. If you want to live closer to Asheville, I would look at Black Mountain or Old Fort. Maybe Swananoa. Boone has Appalachain state University. Lots of photo ops. Jobs? as a photographer? I dunno. There are photographers who are self employed and many seem to do well. Boone has a growing arts community. Lotsa money around.
