      Tour to Istanbul

      Israel Mar 24, 2015 at 6:43 PM

Hi! I'm going to be in Israel for about 3 weeks starting on April 26th. We plan to go for 3 or 4 days to Istanbul at some point.

My wife was there about 10 years ago and she remembers buying a package that included flight and hotel, really cheap. She bought it directly in Israel.

Does anyone know if those kind of packages still exist? If so, who sells them and how much are they approximately?

      Thanks!!

      Beit Hatfutsot Museum, Tel Aviv

      Israel Mar 21, 2015 at 4:21 PM

I would like to identify the 18 model synagogues there, but using catalogues outside Israel I have only managed 12:
      1. - Florence
      2. - the great Tlomackie St. Synagogue, Warsaw.
      3. -Dura Ehropos, 245 AD on Euphrates in northern Syria
      4. - Great Portuguese synagogue, Amsterdam 1675.
      5. - Beth Shalom synagogue, Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, 1954
      6. - Second century AD synagogue in Sardis, Turkey. First built as a secular basilica
      7. - synagogue of Kaifeng, China, 1163 rebuilt 1653
      8. - interior of 'Ibu Dannan' synagogue, Fez. Mid-17th century
      9. - Rashi chapel, Worms, an annex to the ancient synagogue of 1034
      10. - Altneuschul, Jewish quarter, Prague. Built 1270.
      11. - Moorish style synagogue, Toledo c. 1200. Later turned into Sta Maria la Blanca church.
      12. - Rabbi Shemuel Ha'Levi Abulafia Synagogue, Toledo after 1492 turned into El Transito Church.
Can someone help me complete this list with the six missing synagogues pleas? Stefan

      Best area to stay

      Jerusalem Mar 7, 2015 at 7:18 PM

Hi! I'm going to Jerusalem with my wife and 2yr old son at the end of April. I've never been there so I'm a bit lost regarding location.

What is a good area to stay at? What is the "difference" between the West and East Jerusalem? Would you stay in/near the old city?

      Thanks for the help!

Going to Massada with an Israeli rented car?

      Jerusalem Mar 12, 2015 at 6:43 AM

As far as I found out, the best way to go to Massada national park from Jerusalem will lead through Westbank by taking route nr. 1 to the dead sea and follow its bank via route nr. 90 to Massada....

Is it allowed to go this route with a car rented from an Israeli company? When I get it right, I will not leave Israeli controlled area (Zone C), so the car should be still insured?

Will I have to pass check-points/border stations on this route? Or are they only between the zones A and B and Isreali controlled areas?

Annoyances and limitations due to Shavuot?

      Jerusalem Mar 4, 2015 at 11:25 AM

I'm thinking about a journey to Israel at Pentecost. Will there be annoyances and limitations due to Shavuot? Are there any sights, which should be avoided due to this feast?

    • Urgent. Need a Meeting place in Ashdod.

by Pauljay Online Now Oct 29, 2013 at 11:48 PM

My wife and I are coming to Ashdod on a cruise, on Sunday November 17th 2013. I have a friend, From Petah Tivkva, with a wife who is blind. We have not met for 20 years. We, of course will be coming from the cruise port.
They will get off the 350 bus at HaNamal Junction. Is that a place where we could meet them ? Are there any Cafes or restaurants there ? Or Should they and us meet somewhere close to it ?
None of us are very mobile, and would need to travel by bus or taxi.
      Thank You.
