Getting to and from Ascoli Piceno by bus or train

by HenriettaStackpole Online Now Jul 15, 2012 at 11:22 AM

I will be in Urbino in November and wish to travel to Ascoli Piceno by bus or train. After departing Ascoli Piceno, I'd like to continue on to Rome, also by public transportation. Could someone please advise me how to do this? I found this website www.startspa.it but I'm afraid my Italian is poor and I can't understand it. I also would like to know if buses/trains run on the weekend. Thank you.

I have not made this journey but.... If you wish to go by train you first need to get to the nearest railway station: Pesaro or Fano. trenitalia.com/homepage_en.h... will give you train times, details and fares to Ascoli Piceno (in English) from either place. There is little difference in timings and both routes require changes of train. http://www.adriabus.eu/ will give you journey information Urbino>Pesaro or Fano (in Italian). Timetables here: adriabus.eu/viewdoc.asp?CO_I... Several options, so scroll down and click on the route number for timetables. Feriale' means working days. 'Festivi' means Sundays and holidays' 'Scolastica' means only when schools are open. Use the Trenitalia link above to find train times, details and fares Ascoli Piceno to Rome. This is a longish journey, taking 6+ hours with changes. You can check weekend timings simply by searching for the a weekend date. Rail services are not usually vastly reduced. I cannot find a direct bus Ascoli Piceno>Rome, although you can find services from other settlements in the area here: http://www.romamarchelinee.it/

Just had a look at www.startspa.it and it looks like there is a bus from Ascoli Piceno station to Rome with 3 of the daily trips going via the A24 motorway taking about three hours: startspa.it/linea_roma/ascol... Ascoli Piceno is a lovely town in the Marche, I was there a couple of years ago. Hope this assists
