Will be staying a few days in Glendale and have 2 days to myself. Anxious to spend a LOT of time outdoors (it's March in the Northeast, what can I say?) With a bit of searching, I found info about Saguaro lake, what seems to be a great place to spend a day. I have booked a morning trail ride and would like to take a 5pm cruise on the Desert Belle. In between that and lunch, I wouldn't mind doing some lite hiking/walking. Problem is, I will be alone. I realize hiking alone isn't necessarily wise, but I am in excellent physical shape and this trail seems to be more of a walk along the lake. I'm trying to find out if this is the case or if perhaps walking this trail alone might pose other hazards I'm not considering (such as wildlife?) Again, I'm not from the area...at all....so I'm looking for any thoughts that anyone may have about this, as well as any thoughts you have about the lake & its activities in general. Thanks SO much in advance!
Forgot to add... trip is mid March (in 10 days, actually!), so no need to address the heat issue. TIA!

I do not have any experience with Saguaro Lake but have been to Canyon Lake and Navajo Lake just east of there. The terrain around there is pretty rocky and the trail will probably have some ups and downs to walk through but should not be too bad. I have very extensive practice walking trails in Arizona alone. Especially during if you are walking near to midday; wildlife should not be much of a problem. The snakes, mountain lions, javelinas and other wildlife prefer the early morning hours and near dusk. They also perfer to avoid you. Make sure you tell family, friends, or someone at the marina wher you intend to hike and when you plan to return so if you don't they will look for you. Drink plenty of water, it is easy to dehydrate in the desert. Follow some simple common sense rules and it should be a great hike. If you are looking for another nice place to hike; try the Lost Dutchman State Park. It is nearby on Arizona Highway 88.

Saguaro Lake actually has a ton of people around it all the time, so I can't imagine that there will be any wildlife around there during the day. I wouldn't worry about hiking around alone either. I do it all the time. Yeah, you're not supposed to, I guess, but, as long as you don't wander off the trail, you should be fine since they're all pretty well-traversed. Especially around Phoenix, most trails are going to have quite a few people on them. I definitely agree with the Lost Dutchman suggestion. Just don't go looking for the gold, as some people do, because that's where people have died (one fairly recently). I'd also try Four Peaks, but that might be more length than you want. Both are not terribly close to Saguaro Lake though. During the day, rattlesnakes are your biggest concern while hiking aside from self-injury. Keep an eye and ear out for movement and, again, don't go off trail, and you have little to worry about.
