Hi, I am a Chinese; I plan to get a visa at Tehran, Iran and to visit Erbil next week. It would be much appreciated if anyone could give me more advice and confirmation for the situation there! Many Thanks for your answers!

Erbil is boringly safe. There have been more terrorist attacks in Europe over the last 10 years than there have been in Erbil. In terms of other crimes, Detroit, Moscow or Bangkok are MUCH more dangerous.

Completely agreed, I went this year (single female) and it was extremely safe. In fact people approached me on the street to introduce themselves and their entire extended families - they were so excited to see tourists. Very, very safe and friendly.

Thank you very much!! You two make me rest my mind and want to visit there at once. I will fly to Tehran tonight and to apply a Iraq entry permit there. I wish i could get it in a few days. Also, any Chinese there? I don't know any racial discrimination there. It is safe foe western people, but same to Chinese? Can I feel free to go around the street and to take public transportation there? or you all just take taxi? is it cheap for taxi? By the way, which hotel or hostel is good value to stay? My budget is USD$20-40. Thanks for you help in advance!!!
