We really enjoyed taking the guided walking tour - very informative and with a guide who showed us round with personality and humour. You can book at the Tourist Info Centre - this is a group guided tour, not an independent one, although that said, we were the only two!!

The Cathedral is wonderful and especially the three Rubens.....

We didn't have time to do the Museum of Fine Arts - something I regret and will definitely return to. The tour will take you around the outside - a very pretty and interesting building.

Half a day is not long at all and I think Antwerp warrants at least a day. However, provided you arrive early, you could take a guided tour (provided there is one at a suitable hour), which would last for about an hour, perhaps more (I cannot remember, maybe it was more like 90 minutes) and visit the Cathedral, all in a morning i.e. before noon or noon thirty.

Sorry, I have no recommendations for places to eat. In any case, if you have time for a proper lunch, then I would sacrifice that time, grab a quick bite at any cafe, and do a little more sightseeing.

How are you going to arrive in Antwerp? The station is some way from the centre, so you would need to factor in the walking time or the time to wait for and take a bus.

You have half a day? well maybe it should be better an entire day but if this is the time you have, you should visit the cathedral, the main square and I suggest you to visit the official website of Antwerp and choose one of walking itineraries...you can have a fast trip around the city: you can choose 4 itineraries and it's strongly recommended! :-)
The Diamonds Museum is also worth as Antwerp is the capital of diamonds and the Rubens House if you are fond of art and paintings! :-)

If you have only half a day, I'd recommend a general sightseeing with the horse carriage (starts on the "Grote Markt") or with the tourist tram (starts on the Groenplaats). If you come by train, the Grote Markt is only a 15 minutes walk from Central Station.
With a little more time, I'd visit the 16th century house of the printer Plantin Moretus with beautiful garden and manufacture. It's unique! Make sure you see the introducing movie before starting the visit. You'll love it! Location: Vrijdagsmarkt.
One thing to know: all city museums are closed on Mondays.

With only a few hours to spend, you won't like to spill too much time in a restaurant. If you like a "lunch with a view", go to Brasserie De Valk on the Grote Markt. If you're on a budget and you like Italian, you can always try one of the Da Giovanni's in the Jan Blomstraat.

    Have a nice visit.
