Half a day in Antofagasta, worth it?

Hi people, On the 5th of April I'm planning on flying from Santiago to Calama and then onto San Pedro. Is it worth catching an early flight to Antofagasta, maybe go have a picnic at La Portada, and then catch an early evening flight to Calama. Or would I be better off flying direct to Calama? Hey, I think Antofagasta is worth for max 2 days, there's not much to see. the few attractions are the Colon Sq (downtown sq)and the beach. I moved here for work about a month ago and I think I saw it all in 3 days, yeah I hear San Pedro is really nice and worth it but I haven't been there yet. Hope it helps, Cheers, JTdot
