Granny to Antarctica?

Has anyone gone the route of: "Patriot Hills" first and then by small plane to the "Scott-Amundsen" base?? Is it true that the folks at the base do not welcome visitors? Imagine going all that way, expecting a cup of tea, and then to hear "Clear off."
