I am travelling from Annecy to Thonon Les Bains, is it worth visiting Chamonix on the way through? Or will it add unnecessary time to the journey?

I am going to Annecy from May 5-June 8. What should I expect the weather to be like? I was planning on bringing clothing for the summer but then checked the weather online and it says it will be snowing!

Hello, we are planning to go to Annecy in May and we don't want to rent a car.
The best hotels in my opinion are in Talloires (quiet). Is it reasonnable to book a hotel in Talloires or do we have to book a hotel in the center of Annecy?

My family and I will go to Annecy on 2/4/13 to 4/4/13. We plans to stay in Youth Hostel. My question are, it is enough time to explore Annecy. How far the youth hostel from city centre.What is the best place to visit in annecy. What is the weather and tempreture during that time.

As part of an 18 day visit to France I will be traveling from Annecy to Nice in early May 2013 and I would like advice on the best way to travel between these two cities. By train, it would appear that I would need to be aboard the train in Annecy before 7am in order to arrive in Nice in daylight (and I do consider this important as I will be traveling alone and like to be settled in by nightfall). I would consider flying but I'm not sure what combination of transport this would require. Any advice on the most sensible way to get from Annecy to Nice would be greatly appreciated.

We plan to be in Annecy for 3 days and hope to go to Chamonix for 2 days in late September 2013.Would it be better to go by train or by bus? We hope to take the telecabins up to Arquilla du Mide for the day and wonder if we will be able to continue on the Telecabins.Panoramic MontnBlanc to Pointe Helbronner as we understand that this service operates from mid May to Mid September. Would it be possible for us to leave Chamonix by train in the morning for Paris so that we can enjoy the beautiful scenery? The SNCF site came up with only I overnight service when typed in Carmonix to Paris.In fact I had to use an earlier date in March as September train timetable is not available yet. Any comments or advice would be much appreciated.

Hello, We plan to stay around the shores of lake Annecy from 2 to 12 september. As we prefer to take a look first before deciding where to stay, I was wondering if there will be sufficient choice and availability at the beginning of September in the Annecy area. Or is it highly recommended to make a booking before departure? Could anyone reccomend particular areas? We three adults prefer a self-catering apartment/house nearby the lake and swimming possibilities. Preferably at the sunny side of the lake and with an outside sitting area. Is Veyrier-du-Lac reccommended? Budget for 10 nights is around 800 max. Thanks!

Hi, my friend and I want to make a day trip to Annecy from Lyon on either 13th or 14th September, but we've encountered a few problems. 1. I tried booking the TER train from the voyages-sncf website, and keep receiving these 2 messages: "Attention, certaines de vos demandes de placements n'ont pu être satisfaites." and "La réservation d'une place assise n'est pas disponible sur le(s) train(s) où figure la mention "sans réservation". De ce fait vous serez en placement libre." I'm not sure what the first statement is driving at because I didn't choose any seating or anything like that, and I believe the 2nd statement is saying that the train basically works like any normal metro: you can get on the train, but there is no guarantee of a seat. Is this right? 2. Also, even after ignoring all these and trying to buy the ticket, all my cards get rejected with no reason except that they can't do a follow-up on why my cards are rejected. I've already booked 4 other TGV train trips on the same site with no problem, so I'm not too sure what's going on here. The only possible reason I could think of is that TER trains only accept European bank cards like the iDTGV trains. Is this true? 3. Is the Lyon-Annecy train usually crowded at this time of the year? Should I just try to buy the tickets at the Lyon train station on the same day? Is it hard to get a seat? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am coming to Annecy for the Annecy Festival. After 12th June, plan to go on a tour around Annecy. Suggest some places that are not far, but has village life experience. Maybe do some work on the farms, cycle around and get the flavor of medieval France. Want to experience the next five days living simple daily life that ordinary people live in that part of the world. Want to live REAL LIFE, not cosmetic busy city life. Please recommend and help!! I have been offered a job a few KM outside Annecy which I am thinking over. I have a wife, 2 children and a dog so we would all be relocating from the UK. If we decide to do it I would want to rent first so would be looking for a 4 bed house with garden in the Annecy area. Can anyone recommend any good websites to see what the prices are like? Does anyone have experience with the buses from Annecy to Geneva Airport and or Geneva Gare Routière? How reliable are they? A web-search indicates the Gare Routière is near a train station, but I get conflicting information as to whether it's near the Gare Cornavin or the Gare des Eaux-Vives. will travel from Nyon, Swisszerland to Yvoire and then to Annecy. I would like to ask for some information. 1 Is there luggages deposit service at Yvoire? 2 Is there any way of transportation which is direct from Yvoire to Annecy? If no --- The time and the price of the bus from Yvoire to Thonon les Bains. I would like to get to the train station at Thonon les Bains to catch the train to Annecy. Thank you.
