Hotel or farm house to stay in Annecy?

by psutraveler Online Now Jun 17, 2005 at 8:46 AM

Hi All:

My husband, myself and 9 year old are wrapping up our trip in the vicinity of Annecy and are looking to stay in a fairly resonable place as we'll be out of money!!! Any suggestions for in the town or just outside in a smaller village? We have a car so we'll be mobile. Also, anyone have any suggestions for a day trip around the area. We'll have been staying in Albertville to see the Tour and also down to visit Chamonix so we are looking for something else to see in the area.

I don't personally know of anyplace to stay but there are several smaller towns around the lake which are very beautiful and may have cheaper prices than in Annecy.

There is a regional tourism website you can look at which has suggested tourist routes depending on your taste, such as visiting old stone forts near Chambery, doing wine region tours, visiting natural park reserves (Vanoise, Bauges) etc. which you can find at and is in English. You can also check out the Haute Savoie tourism page at and click on GB for English. There are B&Bs listed under what is called "Clévacances" which is a room in a person's chalet at this link and under Gites de France at

    Hope this helps.
