Does anyone have any information or experience of the Angora Hotel. This is not to be confused with the Angora House Hotel which is a small 6 room B & B. Angora Hotel, we are told, is a large 4 star hotel, close to the centre of the city but we couldn't find a review on Trip Advisor. Any information would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi, I booked a room at a cheap hostel in the Ulus district of Ankara. Since booking the room I have heard very negative things about the Ulus area. People say it is filled with casinoes and prostitutes. I do not plan on going out at night but do not want to be in a really unsafe area. I have been to Morocco and all over Egypt on my own. I am traveling solo and am a woman. Is this area totaly unsafe? I want tohave easy access to the Roman Baths and big museum and do not want to pay more then 20.00 US dollalrs a night.

I went to Istanbul last year from March 22 - April 2nd and it was cold/raining most of the trip, but then got warmer with nice sunshine the last two days. Any help would be appreciated. I live in Los Angeles and we are very spoiled with the climate here. So I want to be prepared for Ankara :) Thank you, Sahar
Hello there. Im coming to Ankara as an exchange student in mid January. Problem is that I cant seem to find any reasonable furnished apartments in Ankara. Is it impossible to find 1-2 bedroom apartment which is furnished near Kizilay for around 800TL ? I've been using hurriyetemlak to search apartments, but no luck so far. I've heard its easier to find apartment by using real-estate agent, is this true? Any recommendations? Any help would be apreciated.

I've been checking out the VT tips on Ankara since I might end up with a free day there next Saturday (March 21). It seems like there's plenty to do--including a lot of outdoor stuff--but it also seems like it's going to be quite cold, possibly even snowy. I'm on a long business trip in the Mideast/Africa and don't have any warm clothes with me, just a light jacket. Should I stay in Ankara, or try to get myself somewhere warmer? I'm interested in seeing the city, but not sure if now is a good time for it. I haven't been there before, so I don't know how big Ankara is, how to get from place to place, etc. I'll be staying at the Sheraton. I won't have a car, but could take taxis and public transit.
