Ancona to Split

Hi We arrive in Ancona on a Wednesday at approx 13.05 We can't decide whether we should A. Have a meal etc in Ancona and take the night ferry. or B. Get the fast catamarran and try to find accomodation in Split that night. Any advice?! We will have luggage and a teenager!!...also we don't know Ancona or know of any acomodation in Split....most apartments seem to want you to stay a week...we only want to stay a couple of days.
