Looking for a good recommendation for breakfast i.e. is there a Netherlands specialty that should be tried and any recommedations for a good breakfast eatery in the Overtoom 57/Leidseplein districts ,,,
Can't remember the name, but there was an Irish bar\restaurant on Overtoom close to Leidseplein that had an incredible Irish B-fast..... otherwise, I just grabbed a pastry and coffee from one of the many bakeries around the city---

There's a pancake place just off Leidseplein, pretty much opposite the theatre. I can't remember what it's called but it's very visible.

a Netherlands specialty > for breakfast. Well, real Dutch is not anything warm like pancakes, sausages or alike. A Dutch breakfast is rather sober, but can have a variety of bread (Roggebrood, krentebol, and more). I would say, real Dutch is a slice of bread with "hagelslag". Better wait a while with your breakfast and have a brunch at a herring stall. You must try a white bun with raw herring and some onions. Hagelslag is chocolate sprinkles (sometimes coloured sugar sprinkles) which we don't use on cakes but eat in huge amounts on our sandwiches. Loads of local foods described at: Netherlands Local Custom Tips by ATLC (and following tips).
