Hi, have booked all my trip, at the end of the river cruise in Amsterdam,we will be departing the ship at about 10am from the port of Ruijterkade. To catch the train to Paris ( the Thalys Red Train ) What time limit do I have to get to the Station and the best way to get there. I will need to book in about 1-2 weeks. Have booked hotel in Paris on the 22nd August ( 4 nights ) many thanks David
You need to be on the train before the doors close... There is no check in or any other formality. Take the in to account the time you will need to get from the Cruise Port to the Central station, and then some time to find your bearings. I usually try to be at the station about 10 minutes before the train leaves. You can take the tram from the cruise port to the central station. The tram stops at the northern side of the station, and it just so happens that Thalys normally leaves from the northernmost train platform too... So you don't have to walk very far.

Just check the departure info displays to see what track your train is leaving from. In a rare occasion this might differ from the scheduled printed yellow information billboards with departure info. PJ

Here's a picture of the Viking cruise terminal: cache.virtualtourist.com/6/3... In the foreground you see a train that just departed from the Central Station in an Easterly direction. Taking a cab is not necessary as the station is within 10 minutes walking. Walking to a tram stop is about as far as walking to the main entrance of the Centraal Station. There even is a webcam available; see: amsterdamhotspots.nl/cgibin/... PJ
