2 months in Amsterdam - where to sleep?

Hi all, I've received nice offer of work in Amsterdam for 2 summer monts: July & August. The only problem is that I don't have much money to spend for accomodation. I cannot take hotel (hostel) for 2 months neighter hire a small flat - I suppose. I was thinking about (considering that in summer season) students houses - in summer should be empty and maybe the universities are likely to rent rooms. Maybe would be less expencive than hostels. If you have an idea where I could find some accomodation, please let me know. Thank a lot.
