Hello, can someone advise where the Viking River Cruise departure location is. Also, we are considering staying at a central hotel location and there are several located not far/south from the central station. Is this a good area for hotels to be close to the normal tourist haunts?
Thanks in advance.
The Terminal is at the North-side (waterfront) of the Centraal Station and a little to the East.
There are new hotels in the area like the Hilton-Double Tree (nect to the new Library) and Movenpick at the PTA (Passenger Terminal Amsterdam; the one for the big cruise ships).
Also older hotels like the Prins Hendrik have been used by Viking Cruise goers and fellow VT-members.
Well, Amsterdam is small and compact so you are hardly ever far from anything, including hotels. I read some good stuff on this forum about the Hilton Doubletree hotel, just behind Central Station. Just 'out of' the mainstream walk but still walkably close to the center.
Doubletree hotel is also in the same location where the Viking cruises docking ports are.

I stayed at the Singel, less than 5 mins walk from Centraal, and will stay there again the week after next. I found it very well-located for everything I wanted to do in Amsterdam. :-)
For an interesting hotel in that neck of the woods have a look at the Lloyd Hotel - THE GREAT THEATRE
Here's a picture of the terminal. The Centraal station is at the left just outside the picture.
