My wife and I will be staying in Ravello for 3 days in late September and would like to know if Scooters are a viable option for getting around. Is it safe with all the aggressive drivers? Do you need a motorcycle licence? What are the rates like? Which companies do you recommend?
You will of course need an appropriate licence. In the case of the company linked below: >driving licence motorbike for 150 cc, or higher motorcycle; driving licence for 125 cc scooters; Drivers are not 'aggressive' as such, imo, but there is a very specific mode of driving/riding which you might find very stressful in busy areas....in countryside areas, of course, it won't be so bad. Riding a scooter is not the same as riding a motorbike: scooters are less stable (smaller wheels) and have less power. Unless you are already an experienced scooter/motorcycle rider I'd be very wary indeed of hiring one. You won't have a huge choice of companies.
