I will be visiting Strasbourg at the end of June. Can you recommend a shop where I can buy fabric by the metre?

Hi, I will be heading to either Colmar or Strasbourg on the 30th of Dec from Munich and spending two nights there. I will be going to Paris on the 1st of Jan. Would it be possible to visit both Strasbourg and Colmar in this time. For example, could I base myself in Strasbourg but also add a visit to Colmar since it's a short train ride? Or would I be better off choosing one over the other? I know that I won't be able to see everything I want in such a short amount of time, but I am having great difficulty deciding which place to go!

I'd like to see the Christmas markets and of course the lovely wooden architecture (as the major priorities) and all other sites as a bonus in the short time I will be there. I enjoy good food and taking in the sights. I will be traveling with my partner.

Hi.. We have made arrangements to rent a car for two days while in Strasbourg. We are already planning to take a train to visit Colmar on another day. So my question is: what other towns should we "not miss" within the area? We'd like to catch some of the sites and maybe even stop at a winery for a visit. Any help is appreciated.

what is the cheapest way for a family of four to get to Paris from Alsace in August 2013?

We are staying in Obrey ( just west of Colmar) in September for a week, and have a car. What are recommended sights and villages in the region. Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants in or near Obrey.

We will be driving from Karlsruhe to Colmar, and from there to Switzerland. So many of the small towns in the region seem very attractive, and I;m wondering if there's a particularly pretty route we could follow. I know there's a Wine Route, but does anyone have any other suggestions?

We will be driving into Colmar, France from Italy. We plan to leave Colmar for Strasbourg to take the fast train to Paris. We are afraid of driving in to Strasbourg to find the train station and were hoping to take the train from Colmar to Strasbourg. If we rent from Auto Europe, the drop off for the rental car is the Colmar Huessan Airport. Is there a bus at the airport that will take us back to the Colmar train station, or better yet, to Strasbourg? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks, Moovnon

We'll be traveling around by train and I was hoping for some hints from people on places to visit around the area. We'd also like to find a guide or tour that can take us to a couple vineyards. I'll be arriving on strasbourg at 11 pm and leaving at 7am in the morning. Since it is 24th of december, no hotels are availiable. Can I spend the night in the train station? Is the station open until the next morning?

I was in Strasbourg in May and purchased some stork items. One was a biege colored terry cloth baby bib written in French saying something like "I love my moma." I left it at my hotel accidently and would like to order another. Does anyone know the name of a shop where it can be purchased?

Hello! I will be staying a few days in Colmar, France. I realize that English is not frequently spoken there. I can communicate in French to some degree and a little (very little) in German. Which is more polite French or German? (taking under consideration the back-and-forth history). And "Alsatian"...is that frequently spoken? Henry :)

We will be in Strasbourg halfway through our three week trip. Time to wash clothes, but where to go? Does anyone know of a laundromat in Strasbourg, preferably near the train station? Also, we want to rent a car in Strasbourg then drive through the Black Forest and Bavaria. Are there any restrictions on crossing the border, and do we need any special drivers license, or will our Texas DL suffice?

Can anyone confirm whether the french railways overnight train to Marseille (ICN4295) still exists and if so which nights it runs - I am trying to organise a trip to include if possible a friday night couchette (6 July 2012) from Mulhouse to Marseille. Some sites refer to this train but it never appears as an option on voyages-sncf.com so maybe it used to run and doesn't run any more? any help would be gratefully received!

Hi, I'm offered a job in strasbourg for a few months and I'm looking for an appropriate house for me an my pets. By that I mean that it must have enough space for them to spend some time outdoors and in addition to be away from traffic. I understand that this is not possible in the center, but I'm willing to stay at 10-15 mins away from the center. Are there houses of this kind in the area and if so would a house like that be safe for a solo female? thanks

We (3 Adults) are leaving Paris on 22 or 23 Dec to travel to Strasbourg for the Christmas markets and would like to stay in a gite around this general area. Our preference is for Ribeauville but cant seem to find much availablity does anyone have any suggestions.

I have unexpectedly got the chance of a trip to Strasbourg in September, I will be there for 1 week, alone during the day and most evenings, without a car (unless I hire one) and probably staying in a basic hotel near the airport. It's not sounding like the best trip ever but I am looking forward to it, being in France again and seeing a part of the country I dont know well. HI. I´ve been told there is a bus from airport to Mulhouse: the bus 707. Is it true? Or is better to take a train from Saint Louis railway station. Thank you.
